**Gateways Music Festival connects and supports professional classical musicians of African descent and enlightens and inspires communities through the power of performance.**
Gateways musicians are multi-cultural, multi-lingual and multi-national people of the African diaspora who are challenging the status quo and preconceptions about classical music at the highest levels. In performance, the image of the Gateways Music Festival Orchestra offers a counter narrative to stereotypical images of classical musicians.
However, Gateways’ main goal is not to provide a solution to a problem not of its making. Instead, it was created to serve as an antidote to the isolation and under-estimation experienced by many classical musicians of African descent and to provide a vibrant and supportive community where they could find affirmation and an artistic home.
The Gateways Orchestra was invited to perform in Chicago by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for 5 days in April 2024. On April 19, 2024, members of the Purdue Black Alumni Organization joined a full house audience to witness and enjoy the final performance at Chicago Symphony Hall.

Message from Arvind Raman, Dean of the College of Engineering.
We are currently seeking nominations about the 38 by 38 Engineering Award. Pls feel free to share this msg widely across your network. Thanks so much and Boiler up!
So many young Boilermaker Engineering alumni are on the fast track, doing great things and making us all so proud. Recently the College of Engineering announced the new early-career Purdue Engineering 38 by 38 award to recognize 38 alumni who are 38 years old or younger and have demonstrated an accelerated trajectory of professional success or made a significantly high impact in their field. Do you know a deserving young Purdue Engineering alum--perhaps a colleague, fellow alum, or family member who has made a difference? Help us recognize them for their achievements. Time is running out! Nominations are due January 31. It only takes a few minutes. Make a nomination today at https://bit.ly/38by38
