Too often, we ignore those gentle nudges until they become SO LOUD!

It’s so important to build a relationship with your body, understand its language, and respond with compassion and care. 🤗

This takes practice though, and often, some guidance!

Especially if you’ve experienced trauma or long-term health issues, we can really struggle to tune in, or feel safe in doing so. 💕

If this resonates and seems like something you struggle with, please know that you are not alone!

We have helped so many people learn how to do this — and we can help you do the same 1:1 in a safe space.

If you’re experiencing pain or unexplained health issues, we can also help you get to the root cause, and heal.

Let’s tap into the power of mindful movement! 💪🧠 Slowing down your exercises is beneficial, in SO many ways! Not only do you reduce your injury risk, but it helps with: 1️⃣ Slowing down lets you get better at your form 2️⃣ Linking your mind and muscles — you can become more in tune with your muscles activating as you move. This awareness not only leads to more effective workouts, but helps you tune into your body and its signals. 3️⃣ Mindful movement helps you catch potential issues before they become injuries 4️⃣ Often we spend our days in go go go mode— slowing down helps reconnect with your body and become more grounded and present in your workout, as well as daily life! 5️⃣ Slow, controlled movements, especially during the lowering (eccentric) phase, can help with strength building It’s okay to apply power in the lifting phase, but take it slow on the way down. Try slowing down your next session and let us know how it feels! 💭 ______ This content is for educational purposes only and is not medical advice #austintexas #texas #atx #physicaltherapy #mindbody #mindbodyconnection #traumainformed #pelvicfloortherapy #austinwellness #pelvicfloor #fitnesstips #backpain #neckpain #austinlife #holistichealth #holisticphysicaltherapy

You made it halfway through the week! But ... have you moved your body much at all? We're all a bit guilty of sitting at the computer for hours on end, and not giving yourself (or your body!) a much needed break! Take a moment to step away from the computer and give yourself a nice stretch. Banded/Resisted Snow Angels are great for your shoulder stability. They help you pull your shoulders back to support good posture and decrease shoulder and neck pain. These are a standing variation using a resistance band: Anchor a resistance band to the wall, door, etc. With your arms straight, drive the back of your hands to the back of the space and squeeze your shoulderblades together. Keep your arms straight and extend them overhead. Bring them back down and shift them back forward and do it again! Keep your legs firm, core tight and pull your armpits down to your hips.

We love this suggestion from @drnick_dpt: film your lifts! 🎥 It can provide you with useful feedback, help troubleshoot areas you may be struggling with and help your celebrate your grows 🎉 Here’s what he has to say about it: “The snatch is not a frequent lift for me, so starting light, focusing on consistent technique, and breaking the movement down has been helpful. For barbell movements, I highly recommend the Iron Path app which will trace the bar path for you and allows you to view in slow motion.” Of course, if you continue to have issues with your technique or especially if pain is holding you back, nothing replaces a good physical therapist! 🙃 . . . . . Shoulder injuries are serious business. They can be painful, limiting, and slow to heal 😫😫 The rotator cuff is a group of four muscles that stabilize the shoulder and allow it to move. Strengthening these muscles can minimize injury, increase stability and promote healthy movement patterns. 💪

Single Arm Eccentric Landmine Press
The single arm landmine press is a shoulder press variation used to target the muscles of the shoulder. It will also indirectly work the muscles of the triceps and traps. Here, Dr. Nick is showing an eccentric version used to reintroduce pressing movements after an injury. 🏋️ Don’t forget to highlight it so you can try it later!

We probably sound like a broken record at this point, but NO you don’t have to pee every time you exercise and YES we can help 🙌🙌

Vaginal scar tissue can form from a variety of situations, although scarring after childbirth from tearing is the most common. Gentle scar mobilization using your fingers can help to decrease the sensitivity of the scar, making it less painful. . . . . . ⚠️The content in this post is intended for educational purposes only.
