Just in case you may know of someone looking to earn some money by next week. This is an email that I am sharing from a business contact. We are still looking for Banquet servers for an event at Jackson Memorial on Monday, May 10th. Today marks the 3rd or 4th day since I started a Facebook Business page. At first, I was not too sure on how I wanted to proceed and (still at that level by the way). But, after my 3rd post, someone left a comment that left me in awe. She mentioned how some of the suggestions on the post will help her to be more impactful to her community at large just to paraphrase. The thing is sometimes we think that we need the approbation of many in other to feel like we accomplish something. Yet, all we need is to be able to reach one person at a time if at all possible for with the right mindset, that one can end up bringing change about so many others. I did not ask for permission to thank her using her name so, It will still stay anonymous but she knows who she is and wanted to take the time to say thank you for the feedback and for encouraging me to move forward. As I am starting this new journey, I hope that some of the topics that will be discussed will be used not as a panacea but at least as a way to encourage one another about going forward with dreams. I thank each and every one who will invest their time into reading this and possibly chiming in as well.

Do you wish to move in a more positive way financially in 2021?

Here are a few questions you should ask yourself?
1) What is the top priority goal I wish to accomplish by the end of 2021? ( Buying a home, traveling, getting married etc..)

2) What is it I value more, material things (clothes, gadgets, toxic asset like new cars etc..) or delayed gratification like opportunities?

3) Should something happen to me right now, will my loved ones be ok financially?

4) Am i able to save more or at least try to start saving (52 week challenge could be a place to start for it is not that difficult to achieve with the right mindset. Please google it.

5) Can I structure my life better so that my time is more accountable towards things that will make an impact for my family or the community at large? (Volunteering, sharing a skill that you may have or invest time in one that you are longing for)

6) Can I make more money? The answer is always yes! Have you ever wonder why every single car is sold with a spare tire that you may or may not ever used. Well, it is for just in case. What is your just in case in life (Just in case you get sick, fired, not able to perform for whatever reasons). Will you be able to survive? If yes, just for how long?

Do you have a Financial Plan?

If your answer is no, now may be the perfect time to think about having one. What it does is creating a GPS or blueprint for your money. With stimulus #1,2,3 already in the rear view mirror with the possibility of a 4th one in the making not to forget about "plus-up" payment alongside CTC (Child Tax Credit). Millions of Americans have received and will continue to receive many, many checks. And if not careful, not giving those checks an assignment might be contributing to our own demise. Hence, the necessity for a financial plan.

Are you eager to purchase your first car? home? starting a business etc.. Well, you will need to understand what is going on with your money first and how it is being disseminated before turning these dreams into realities. You may use the following steps as a guide if it is something of interest to you.

1) Start with a financial goal (s)
Make a clear goal for yourself and one that is attainable and inspirational. For instance, you want to go on vacation with the family and you know that it will cost you $3000. That is $250 a month (3000/12) or $125 a week. By breaking it down like that, it is more feasible in lieu of just waking up a week before and decide that the family deserves a vaca.

2) Track your money down like a detective and redirect it toward your inspirational goals, hence the need for a budget.

With a budget, you can see where your money is going and also choose to redirect what you can do without toward more important items. For instance, if you are a coffee drinker, instead of buying $5 coffee that could run you to $80 a month (if you choose to skip Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays), you could just make your own and save about 50% which translates to more money being freed without giving up on drinking coffee however.

3) Start an emergency fund.
You do not want an emergency to become a disaster. Therefore, start with something small, let us say $500 or even $1000 since inflation is not slowing down at all. With that amount being saved, it will be enough to cover an unpleasant surprise should it occur and will not have to access a credit card that may have a high interest rate.

Do you need a financial coach?
Remember that this plan is not set in stones as life situations (promotion, demotion, loss of job or someone) will cause this to be altered. Also, after reaching a milestone, you should congratulate yourself and reevaluate your goals and see if you can step up for a bigger challenge. Financial Planning is something that anyone can do if taking the time to do so. However, some People need more help than others in so many ways. So, the need for a professional may be something you need to look into if at all possible. Always look for someone you can connect to and someone whose sole intention is to help you achieve your goals in a more structured way.
