IMPORTANT ANOUNCEMENT! Pier Plaza Arts & Craft Afaire will officially end on Dec.24 Friday. As you all know, the art afaire market was put on sale by the city of Huntington Beach council members and corporations/ big event operators are bidding high to get and be the new operator of this market. As to which, handmade only concept will be abandoned (this market is known for). While crafters/ artist will have to pay more fees we cant afford and commercial merchandise will take over. Weve been fighting and trying to keep this market going. Weve been waiting to hear for updates from the city before this year ends so our operator kept trying to call and keep in touch with them all week long so we can get updates to what will happen to us artist/ crafters and its a shame they do not respond at all. So with a heavy heart, we would like everyone to know we artist/ vendors loses the fight therefore the Pier Plaza Arts & Craft Afaire will officially close on Dec.24. It was sad that for 29 years, we wont be able to work together anymore with people that became our friends and family here. Some artist/ crafters may not recover from this lost as well. And we will miss all our resident customers who became our friends working there for so long as well. It is a heavy heart for all of us hearing this news that after 29 years the city of Huntington Beach decided to put our market for bidding with no regards on what will happen to us vendors and artist at risk of losing our source of income. Local artist, seniors and veteran have been vending here for years and at risk of not just losing our income, we could also lose our spot and could be paying more fees we can’t afford. This is the only place we can showcase our arts made by our own hands and not compete with commercial merchandise. And after vending here for years weve also developed relationships, this market became our family! For what? So the city can get more money? There’s already been big events held here that charges way more like the Airshow and 4th of July events aren’t those enough? We are only trying to feed our family like everyone else while doing what we love. Stop killing small businesses!
