Infant Swimming Resource's Self-Rescue™ technique is the safest provider of survival swimming lessons for children from six months to six years.

Infant Swimming Resource’s Self-Rescue™ program, teaches children from 6 months to 6 years of age how to survive if they were to reach the water alone. Unlike traditional swimming lessons, ISR’s survival swimming technique is a product of 50 years of research and development, and is the safest approach to survival swimming in the world. Focused on your child’s stage of development and readiness, e

💦 Does your child know how to swim a little, but you feel insecure about their survival skills if the edge or steps are out of sight or far to reach?
💦 That’s the case of this student, that at 4yrs, had swimming lessons at another swim school, but was still lacking the most essential part, the survival and aquatic problem solving part.
💦 ISR helps children ages 6 months up to 6 yrs old to be aquatic problem solvers.
💦 No program can claim to make your child drown proof, but ISR Survival Swim Lessons are a crucial layer of protection against drowning and it gives them a better chance.

Florida swim instructor's viral TikTok warns parents to avoid buying blue bathing suits for kids: Here's why A mother and swim instructor from Spring Hill, Florida, has gone viral on TikTok with her water safety advice to never buy blue-colored bathing suits for kids.

The short answer to this is…probably! Their instructor is new, the pool facility is new, and they are learning to a new skill…put those elements together and you have a recipe for possible 😢😭

Children like routine & familiarity, so their Certified ISR Instructor will not be surprised or bothered when they fuss in the initial days or weeks of lessons. Thankfully, we find that this behavior typically tapers off as they begin to build trust & a rapport with us and as they feel more confident in their skills💪🏽

While it's tempting to hold out for a magical "no cry" method to swimming or to wait until your child is older with the hope that they will cry less, keep in mind that they are the most vulnerable to drowning between the ages of 1-4. Our swim parents will tell you that any tears are a worthy trade-off for the priceless self-rescue skills they will learn!

Today we are honoring Sylas, who is watching us from heaven. His time on Earth was short (14 months) but his legacy will last forever thanks to his amazing mom. She’s creating awareness about water safety and drowning prevention through her foundation The Sylas Project. They provide scholarships to families that otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford Self-Rescue Swim Lessons for their little children. Please take a minute and make a donation of any amount. www.thesylasproject.org/donation
or Venmo

*Theodore (Sylas brother) is now going through his skill advancement session from Floater (did it with Sea Star ISR) and now to Swimmer (with ISR Weston). We are all blessed to be part of Theodore’s journey to honor his brother Sylas.

🛑 📣 Breath FIRST, then compressions

Giving only compressions will NOT work with a drowning victim.

During the drowning process, a victim will very likely expel all of their air from their lungs. This means that if you try to only do compressions with them, it won’t be very effective, as there is no oxygen in the lungs or heart to pump to the other organs (mainly the brain).

When you give rescue breaths, you give your air to the victim, which is still partially oxygenated. This is necessary to make sure compressions can push that oxygen to the brain, where it needs to be for survival.

Don’t forget to give rescue breaths FIRST and then give compressions with a drowning victim.

🛑 Please take 1 min to read.

I found Judah in the water within 2 minutes of his being missing from my side.

It only takes 30 seconds for a child under 30 pounds to drown.

70% of children who drown are found within just 5 minutes of having last been seen safe and outside of the water.

Many children are taught treading water or pushing off of the bottom of the pool to reach the side as drowning prevention techniques. The hope is that a child will be able to perform one of these in order to either get themselves out of the water or be able to wait for help to come.

BUT neither of these techniques is sustainable for a child under 4-years-old (and I would argue not until they are quite a bit older than that).

Because of a young child’s body proportions and lack of coordination skills, most cannot tread water and those that can can only sustain it successfully for about 30 seconds.

Most toddlers will not be able to reach the bottom of the pool and kick off of it in the event of an emergency.

But did you know that children as young as 6-7 months old can learn to float on their backs for extended periods of time? It works with their anatomy, doesn’t expend the amount of energy that treading or kicking off the bottom of the pool does and can be sustained for 2-5 minutes or even longer, if needed.

Given the majority of kids who drown are found within 5 minutes of being seen outside of the water and that it only takes 30 seconds for littles to drown, which one would you choose to teach your child?

If you are in the Parkland area and need a pool fence we have one that is being donated. It is bronze, in good shape and fits around this pool. They say it is about 100 feet of fencing.

You will need to pick it up from the family in Parkland. Please only comment if you need it for YOUR pool and you do not have the finances for a fence. Thank you.
