Thank you to Terese Newman and her husband for opening up their venue at 25 Central Street to allow Event planner Carol Engelmann to host the first Annual Holiday Pop Up Market! Attendees were remarking that it reminded them of the Winter Christmas markets in Germany, there was such a community feel to this event and thank you all who came out to shop, and visit. Everything’s coming up It cheers me up on these dreary rainy days to paint these softly rendered, happy characters, a holiday being who’s soul purpose is to evoke joy in all. These are recycled wood kitchen spoons. I’ve seen handpaint the characters and I just had to try it myself. I’m on the hunt for wire to wrap around the spoon stem so these fellows can hang on a tree or bough. They’re still a but almost done.

A peek into tonight’s offerings.

One of my favorite things to do is rework an older piece. This stuffed muslin ornament bears an inked in character I’d drawn a couple of years ago. They all sold but this one, my hand slipped when inking. This time I painted over the design in areas and am quite pleased with how he pops. I will be uploading a few new pieces in my Etsy shop soon, stay tuned for the announcement!

The almost finished piece, my gift-bearing bear offering up a box o’good tidings. I will be adding branches harvested from my neighborhood to the sides as a frame. He will be up in my this week, or inquire here😊. My contemporary folk art small paintings are meant to offer some whimsy and levity to you interior space.

Started to ink in a Lotsa fun. I’ve always enjoyed making articulated paper dolls, and yes remember in childhood days when I had a shoebox filled with the flat dolls cut from popular magazines.
