Kate's on Milam

*Long Post, Please Read*

"Jamais Deux San Trois!" Or as we would say it, "When it rains it pours!".

Just sharing with you all, because I know you will understand the struggles of a small business owner. These last few weeks have been extremely taxing on me both mentally and physically. I landed in the ER TWICE last week with uncontrollable migraines. Because my poor employees have been fighting to get well from these bugs, strep, etc. I've been working from open to close every day, while managing everything else and trying to get West Columbia opened back up. And being short staffed, my employees are exhausted, too.

The Health Inspectors are requiring some changes to get things up to code in West Columbia Annnnnnnddddd then something happened to the electrical in my shiny, new Food Trailer so it's going to head back to Houston for repair.

It's been A LOT. And I still am short staffed due to illness. So, I must adjust our hours to be able to 1) take care of myself 2) take care of my employees 3) Get West Columbia open and 4) Not lose my mind! LOL

Monday, Dec 11th ALL KATE'S LOCATIONS will be closed for Mental Health Monday. And I'm taking my happy behind to the Neurologist that I've been putting off for over a year!

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. Next week, Starting Tuesday, it should be back to business as usual (we do have more staff on-boarding now), West Columbia should be fully opened... and prayerfully my newly repaired, fully functional Food Trailer will be headed to get permitted to serve the lovely community of Wharton, TX. WHEW!

Even on the midst of all this stress, God is still, and will always be, GOOD!

As mentioned before, we are still waiting on our Mobile Food Permit from the State, so all food items are prepared at our Bay City Location.

🎶🎵 Rain, Rain, Go Away 🌧

It's sprinkling out here, but we are praying it will let up. Either way, we are here until 10 pm tonight. Delicious Chicken Ceasar Wraps (with Fresh Fruit, Pickle and Chips), Iced Coffees, Butterfly Teas, Lemonades and Boba Teas. Come see us!

We will be by the courthouse in Wharton from 5 pm to 10 pm. Come out and see us! The menu we are offering is posted below.

Please note: We do not have the Mobile Food Permit from the State yet. (Still waiting) Yesterday's event was approved for us to make food in the trailer, but we are prepping the wraps at our Bay City Location for today like we did on Friday.

As soon as we have our full approval from State and the Local permits, we will launch our weekly schedule for Wharton and we will hopefully start equipping and furnishing Kate's on Milam soon!

Yall sold me out of many ingredients and I ran to the store to get more.... when I got back that trailer is just too hot with the generator not fully functional.

James (my husband) is going to Lake Jackson to find the converter we need and we will be back from 7 pm until 10 pm tonight and 5 pm to 10 pm tomorrow for Haunted Tours.

As soon as permitting completes, we will announce our Wharton schedule for the Food Trailer. We are pushing for a Christmas 2023 Grand Opening of the building.

I know it's been a long time coming, but with any old building revamp there have been lots of issues. From finding asbestos to the abatement to new ACs that required all new electrical and then all new plumbing.

From my understanding, there is something with the plumbing pending and then the floors and we will be able to start equipping and furnishing Kate's on Milam! I hoping and praying to have a Christmas Winter Wonderland for us to meet and enjoy the Holidays together is the "Living Room of Wharton". :)

P.S. We are aware that the windows are out. They are being replaced. But the building has been totally gutted and nothing is in there getting damaged. Thank you to everyone who was concerned. 🙏

I am going to start introducing Wharton to our menu. I am only going to post items that will be available out of the Food Trailer.
