Love bats and protect them 🦇
It’s International Red Panda Day! Check out Red Panda Network to see how you can make a positive impact on red panda conservation.
What do zookeepers do when they are on vacation? Probably visiting another zoo 😂 This red panda was spotted by keeper Erin while at the Dublin Zoo
A BIG thank you to everyone who supported us at Cosley Zoo’s Uncorked event last night 🍷🍾 Congratulations to our raffle winners!
As many zookeepers know, it can be difficult to leave work at work. Keeping your work-life balance on point makes a healthy keeper and in turn, healthy animals! Thanks Amanda!
As we close out National Zookeeper Week. zookeeper Amanda reminds us that even when you're doing work you love, it's important to prioritize work/life balance. Amanda says, "I love my job AND my free time! Spending time with family, hanging out with friends, and pursuing my non-animal passions keep me grounded and make me a better zookeeper."
Even if it’s an animal, we are always there for each other and help one another out ❤️
For National Zookeeper Week, Zookeeper Ali tells us how she supports other keepers by being a good listener. "Working as a unified team is a huge factor in successful zookeeping, and part of that is supporting each other through ups and downs, and lending an ear to those who need one. Rabbits are great at that, too!"
Didn’t get your 8 hours? Jack chooses bird friendly coffee to keep him on his toes! Thanks for your commitment Jack!
Not only does zookeeper Jack practice some self-care with a much-needed coffee break, he makes sure to by choosing a brew which comes from a farm that provides crucial habitat for birds. Happy National Zookeeper Week to Jack and all of his dedicated co-workers!
Rest is important in this physical job! Vanessa always brings her A-Game!
Happy National Zookeeper Week! Zookeeper Vanessa (with inspiration from her furry friend) supports herself and other keepers by getting her eight hours of sleep every day in order to be on top of her game when she arrives at work!
Heather always knows how to brighten our day! (even if treats aren’t involved) thanks Heather!!
Happy National Zookeeper Week! Zookeeper Heather says, "As the Lead Zookeeper at Cosley Zoo, I truly believe I have the best team! To be a good leader I make sure to treat myself, and when I can I treat my team too!"
Thanks, Al, for always bringing us delicious treats!!
Zookeeper Allison doesn't just support her co-workers during National Zookeeper Week. She shows them some love throughout the year by providing them with positive reinforcement in the form of her delicious homemade chocolatey treats!
Protecting ourselves and our animals!
How does zookeeper Colby practice self care during National Zookeper Week (and all year round)?
"I support myself and other keepers by getting my COVID booster and being mindful of the threats COVID 19 poses to our animals, staff and myself!"
Dig loves scratching and sniffing shoes and boots! Even while they’re still on our feet!
Zookeeper Alison kicked off National Zookeeper Week with some self-care by purchasing some new shoes! As a member of Cosley Zoo's Conservation Team, Alison is always looking for new ways to be "green", such as re-purposing her old shoes as enrichment for our armadillo, Dig, With an excellent sense of smell, Dig never misses an opportunity to explore some new scents, even Alison's old shoes. 🙂
Great job Caryn! We appreciate you! ❤️
For National Zookeeper Week, our zookeepers were asked to share the ways in which they practice self-care for themselves or encourage wellness in other keepers, knowing that healthy keepers = healthy animals. Zookeeper Caryn has found a creative way to stay cool in the summer heat by taking full advantage of the zoo's walk-in freezer!
Happy National Zookeeper Week to all the amazing zookeepers out there! Stay tuned for some fun posts from Cosley’s zookeepers this week!
