One of my favorite times of year in The City of Yonkers! Such an honor to join Mayor Mike Spano once again for the raising of the Puerto Rican Flag ahead of this weekend's parade Yonkers Hispanic Cultural Foundation, INC. has organized along South Broadway. It steps off at 12:30 pm on Sunday with a festival following Chicken Island.

Bottom row, second to the left. That’s my dad! I’m a proud daughter of a Vietnam vet, who served in the US Air Force from July 1966-July 1970. He was part of the 41st Maintenance Squadron responsible for support services in Vietnam and other Southeast Asian bases. Discharged as Sergeant Reyes-Sierra in 1970, my dad was an aircraft maintenance mechanic on C-130 planes and was located at Naha Air Force Base in Okinawa. While tomorrow is National Vietnam Veterans Remembrance Day, I’m so proud Yonkers City Hall will acknowledge our vets today with a ceremony. Join us!

Fun night out for Yonkers Public Schools Foundation for Education Gala at Lionsgate. Mayor Mike Spano unveiled the name of the newest specialty high school in The City of Yonkers.

What a way to end the week! The hallway of City Hall became a fictional courthouse for my favorite show. We peered through the blinds of our office doors to watch. We heard “action” calls and then, we got a chance to meet the bad ass star of LAW And ORDER : SVU

FROM THE VAULT: 15 years ago, I was dispatched to cover Miracle on the Hudson. I remember interviewing people in Yonkers who saw the low flying plane before it landed in the Hudson and getting down to the City and seeing it for myself. It seemed truly unbelievable. In the newsroom, there was a moment where it seemed everything stopped, it was very close to our newscast and everything changed so quickly. Please share your memories and thoughts.

So nice meeting our newest Yonkers Police Department cadets at the graduation yesterday representing Mayor Mike Spano. Best of luck! Maybe they will join the force when they are eligible. Many of these students excelled in physical fitness and academics. It's the third graduating class for this program since it returned after COVID. Congratulations to all!

Thank you Riverfront Art Gallery for inviting me to participate in the Artist Talk panel for the Across Imaginary Boundaries exhibit. It’s still on display until December 14. I have two photographs that are part of the exhibit showcasing artists connected to the Caribbean diaspora.
