We age a year every 365 days, but it’s a myth that wisdom automatically comes with age. Wisdom only grows if we apply the knowledge we gain. Like a smartphones ☎️ we need to input information to unlock its potential. Just as a phone can’t dial a number you never saved, your mind can’t solve a problem without the right knowledge. When you face recurring problems, it's often because you lack the tools to resolve them. So, seek the help you need to break the cycle. That way, when the issue arises again, you'll have the solution or at least the mental strength to manage it.
Let’s normalize asking for help and seeking wise counsel, rather than relying on empty vent sessions or validation from people struggling with the same issues.
My response to a Post about toxic masculinity
In African spirituality, the concept of duality is significant, as seen in the story of David and the lion’s den. The lion represents the courage and physical strength needed to confront challenges, symbolizing our ability to face opponents or difficult situations head-on. However, the sheep embodies the mental fortitude and wisdom to outthink a problem, showing a softer yet equally powerful way to achieve success. While the lion is often seen as strong and the sheep as weak, we can view the sheep's approach as a strategic, gentle method to overcome obstacles. In life, we must learn to balance both—knowing when to use strength and when to use wisdom—for the best possible outcome. This balance is a core principle of African spirituality, teaching us when to hold firm or fold for a better future. The future can be the immediate time following the event or anytime after !
In my opinion , When men are conditioned to embrace only the strength of the lion—symbolizing physical power and dominance—they often reject the softer, more reflective qualities of the sheep, such as vulnerability, emotional intelligence, and strategic thinking. This imbalance can deeply affect the psyche, leading to the belief that showing any traits associated with the sheep, like compassion or restraint, is a sign of weakness.
This narrow definition of masculinity creates internal conflict, as men are pressured to suppress emotions or thoughtful approaches, fearing they’ll be seen as inadequate or “less manly.” Over time, this dynamic fosters toxic masculinity, where aggression, emotional suppression, and domination are valued above emotional balance and adaptability.
By avoiding the sheep’s qualities, men may lose the ability to communicate effectively, navigate relationships with empathy, or approach situations with mental fortitude. Instead, they may default to anger, competitiveness, or physical force, reinforcing harmful stereotypes and creating a cycle that negatively impacts their well-being, relationships, and society as a whole. Embracing the balance of both lion and sheep could lead to healthier, more holistic masculinity.
Letting Go of Old Ways-
You call it spring-cleaning. You clean your closets, your pantries, and your garage. You scour your linens, shampoo your carpets, and scrub your windows. You like things to be clean. But when it comes to cleaning the cobwebs and badly blemished mirrors of your own mind, you are less likely to do so. You allow dirty self-criticism, stained images, and soiled decisions to linger for years and years, sometimes until it is nearly impossible to clear them away. Healthy self-esteem enjoys a home that is cleaned of our polluted past decisions and actions.
Why is it so hard to move beyond what you have thought about yourself for years? Why is it so hard to believe that you can, and have, changed? The primary reason is repetition. You have heard the same old song in your mind for so long that you have come to believe the lyrics about yourself. Sometimes, you even catch yourself (you negative self-talk) remembering things that you said about yourself in high school. How can that be? How can you still remember what you thought about yourself twenty-five years ago and you have trouble remembering what you ate for dinner last night? Again, repetition is the answer. The truth is, you have never let go of your past negative self-talk. You have given it safe harbor in the back of your mind and it knows exactly when to appear.
"The voice" appears when you are afraid. It appears when you are sad, depressed, and lonely. It stalks you when you have faced a challenge unsuccessfully. It comes around like an old acquaintance that you'd just as soon never see again. But, because you never had the courage to tell it to leave, it continues to come back and remind you of all the negative things you believe about yourself. This voice makes it difficult to move past decisions that you made long ago. This voice embodies what Robert Frost wrote almost 100 years ago: "And nothing to look backward to with pride, and nothing to look forward to with hope." Given the chance to survive, this voice is incapacitating.
We do not see things as they are, we see things as we are ……..

Children will never grasp the dynamics of rooms they’re not invited into. We have to start inviting children into having conversations about decisions that vastly affect them too!
Families can break down and fall apart, often without anyone fully understanding why—yet we expect children to make sense of it, even when their behavior shows they’re struggling too. We have to strive to be better parents! To bring a child into the world is to birth yourself anew. If you grew up surrounded by substance abuse, alcoholism, mental health issues, unhealthy communication, codependency, domestic violence, or any form of trauma—whether physical, emotional, mental, educational, financial, or due to divorce or singlehood—then your child is already born into that pattern. It’s less about generational curses and more about generational patterns.
Take the time to map out your family tree, including both sides. If you don’t know much about one side, make the effort to learn. Identify the patterns and understand the matrix you’re in.

Reflection and Ego
Reflection and ego are deeply intertwined in the process of personal growth and self-awareness. Each day, we are given opportunities to either strive towards our highest potential or succumb to our baser instincts. The choices we make shape our reality and the experiences that follow.
When we choose to embrace our higher selves, we align with opportunities that allow us to grow, evolve, and bring forth our inner greatness. Conversely, when we choose actions and thoughts aligned with our lower selves, we find ourselves surrounded by low vibrational experiences and opportunities to indulge in negative behaviors.
👉🏾The Power of Choices
Our choices are a direct reflection of our inner selves. When we harm ourselves, whether through negative thoughts, actions, or addictions, we are also capable of harming those around us. This interconnectedness of self and actions is why understanding our own capacity for both good and bad is crucial. We can never fully predict what others are capable of, as it often mirrors their internal state.
👉🏾Responsibility and Judgment
We must take responsibility for the environments we create and the people we allow into our lives. The metaphor of making our own beds reminds us that we must be mindful of our decisions and their consequences. It is important to remember that we cannot fairly judge others without first examining our own actions and motivations.
👉🏾Ego and Accountability
The ego often prevents us from acknowledging our mistakes and walking away from harmful situations we’ve created. It is vital to reflect deeply on our choices and understand how our ego can trap us in negative cycles. By reflecting on our actions and their impact, we can better navigate the opportunities presented to us, choosing those that align with our highest potential and rejecting those that do not serve us.
Reflection and ego play critical roles in our daily choices and overall personal development. By consciously choosing actions that align with our higher selves and reflecting on the outcomes of our decisions, we can create a more positive and fulfilling life. Understanding the influence of our ego and taking responsibility for our choices allows us to grow and evolve, making the most of the opportunities that come our way.

As I drive down 21 Broadway to the Amidon area, I can’t help but notice all the remodeling and new stores. Most of these developments are backed by grant dollars. I’m curious why the Northeast side of Wichita doesn’t receive the same funding for Black-owned sustainable businesses. Why is it easier for immigrants to get funding? I don’t need the excuses; I already know the answers! Dr. Claud Anderson warned us about this years ago. Blacks have been third-class citizens for some time, and we are just now seeing the full extent of it. Many jobs prefer us to speak Spanish in a nation that once beat Blacks until we spoke English. No reparations! We are forced into college, leading to debt, while immigrants receive skills and training. But y'all ain’t following me though.
Most businesses in the Northeast area are sad commercial ventures or owned by non-Black vendors who pay no taxes or give back to the community that fuels their pockets. Many Black businesses in the area contribute to early deaths, either through unhealthy fried food or by selling liquor and drugs. There isn't a single fresh food market within five miles, making it a certified food desert. Meanwhile, the Walmarts and ALDIs predominantly sell bio-engineered food, fake or filled with life-altering preservatives for extended shelf life, or noticeably aged food compared to other markets. Who are we voting for again? If it isn’t me, don’t even bother!
This is not a post of separation but a message to Black people. What are we doing, and what are we doing with our vote? Yes, it’s our right to vote, but with all rights come responsibilities—responsibilities regarding how we vote, why we vote, and what it means for us. Kendrick is right: "They are not like us." Nobody else is still mentally suffering from what we have endured. While we get excited about Bloods and Crips being able to share a stage, others are excited to have stores in their communities, laundromats, dining places that serve their cultural foods, places that speak their languages, opportunities for advancement, and people who look like them and hire them.
Meaning of Change and Its Impact on Fear-Based Emotions
Change refers to the process of becoming different, involving a transformation in one's circumstances, behavior, or mindset. It can be a deliberate choice or an inevitable consequence of external events. Change is often associated with progress and growth, but it can also evoke uncertainty and fear, particularly when it disrupts familiar routines or challenges deeply held beliefs.
Fear-Based Emotions and Stagnation
When faced with change, individuals may experience fear-based emotions such as anxiety, insecurity, and apprehension. These emotions can be triggered by several factors:
✨Fear of the Unknown: Change often involves stepping into uncharted territory, where outcomes are uncertain. This uncertainty can create a fear of the unknown, leading individuals to feel anxious and hesitant.
✨Loss of Control: Change can make people feel like they are losing control over their lives. This perceived loss of control can cause stress and resistance, as individuals prefer the predictability of their current situation.
✨Fear of Failure: The possibility of not succeeding in a new situation can be daunting. This fear of failure can prevent individuals from taking risks and embracing change, resulting in stagnation.
✨Discomfort with New Challenges: Change often requires adapting to new challenges and learning new skills. The discomfort associated with these challenges can lead to avoidance behaviors, causing individuals to stay in their comfort zones.
✨Attachment to the Familiar: People often develop a strong attachment to their current circumstances, even if they are not ideal. The familiarity provides a sense of security, making the prospect of change seem threatening.
Impact on Behavior and Stagnation
These fear-based emotions can lead to stagnation, where individuals become stuck in their current situation and resist making any progress. This stagnation can manifest in various ways:
🤷🏾♀️Procrastination: Delaying actions or decisions related to change due to fear and anxiety.
🤷🏾♀️Avoidance: Actively avoiding situations or opportunities that might lead to change.
🤷🏾♀️Indecision: Struggling to make decisions because of the fear of potential negative outcomes.
🤷🏾♀️Self-Sabotage: Engaging in behaviors that undermine progress to avoid facing the challenges associated with change.
Overcoming Fear-Based Emotions
To overcome fear-based emotions and avoid stagnation, individuals can employ several strategies:
🙌🏾Awareness and Acceptance: Acknowledge the fear and understand its source. Accepting that fear is a natural response to change can help manage it more effectively.
🙌🏾Gradual Exposure: Take small steps towards change rather than making drastic shifts. Gradual exposure to new situations can help reduce fear and build confidence.
🙌🏾Focus on the Positive: Emphasize the potential benefits and opportunities that change can bring. Focusing on positive outcomes can motivate individuals to embrace change.
🙌🏾Seek Support: Rely on support from friends, family, or professionals. Having a support system can provide encouragement and reduce feelings of isolation.
🙌🏾Build Resilience: Develop coping strategies and resilience to handle setbacks and challenges. This can include stress management techniques, problem-solving skills, and a growth mindset.
By addressing fear-based emotions and adopting a proactive approach to change, individuals can overcome stagnation and move towards personal growth and development.

The River of cruelty is real .. people learn how to hurt other people ! From negative behavior that is rewarded ! Or they learn from what they have experienced!
The “River of Cruelty” is a metaphor describing how cruel behaviors move freely from person-to- person and through generations. It is well described as a “river,” as it flows from parent to child, im- pacting each generation. We did not have a choice when we landed in the “river.” We were “thrown in” before we were old enough or big enough to prevent it.
Once in the “River”, we are often resourceful and develop skills that help us to survive. These skills might include becoming self-centered or self-less, or isolating ourselves, or seeking attention.
Most of the time these are maladaptive skills , skills that hurt other people !
Food for thought 💭 take a minute and think about your childhood trauma has shown up in your adult life …
Childhood circumstances that cause of Low Self Esteem in Adults
1. Over critical parents- Example: “You will never be good enough” as a child often results in adults that strive for perfection , and become more prone to self-criticism or long standing sense of inferiority. Mean father syndrome or the ugly mother complex !
2. Significant Childhood Loss – Parental separations a results of death, divorce, or incarceration often results in feelings of abandonment. As an result you may have grown up with a sense of emptiness, and insecurity that leads to anxiousness resulting in Over Dependency , Codependency, and other addictions such as: Food, Drugs, Work, or whatever to cope with the emotional pain.
3. Parental Abuse or some sort of child abuse- Physical, emotional, sexual, or mental. These types of abuse create extreme forms of deprivation and can often result in complex feelings like inadequacy, insecurity, lack of trust, guilt and rage. Many times, people who experience abuse become abusers, not always in the same ways they were abuse but in one way or a multitude of ways. People may also be more prone to the continuation of engaging in relationships that perpetuate the same violence. They may also struggle with difficult intimate relationships.
4. Parental Alcoholism or Drug Abuse- Growing up in a atmosphere where drug abuse is present as a child and there is denial of the problem by the parents teaches the child to deny their own feelings and pain connected to the families situation. As adults we deny our own problems and often recreate the same environments. We don’t seek support out of denial that a problem exist.
5. Parental Neglect - #1 issue affecting today’s societ. Parents are preoccupied with themselves . their work , social media, and other things that simply fail to provided their children with adequate attention and neutering. Children are left to their own devices and grow up feeling insecure, worthless or lonely. As adults they grow up having a tendency to discount or
neglect their own needs, feeling of depression.
6. Parental Rejection – Parents causing the child to feel unwanted Examples: “ I wish I never had you, My life would have been different if, I wish you were more like… ” This causes the child to grow up second guessing their very existence. As an adult this shows up as self -rejection and self sabotage. At times this person may suffer from suicidal ideation or have attempts as the sense of worthlessness sets in or the No one would care anyway syndrome.
7.Parental Overprotectiveness – The child that is over protected, over never learns to trust the world alone resulting in codependency and extreme social anxiety.
8.Parental overindulgence – These parents often SPOIL their children or allow their children to witness relationships based on Merit / entitlement-based transactions to the point they have no sense of delayed gratification or appropriate limits. As an adult this shows u as entitlement, adults expecting the word to come to them rather than taking responsibility for what they need. They may feel cheated and insure because life isn’t providing the with that they learned to expect as a child. Gold Digger mentality, the man that always needs help from others.

This Itadogun Odù covers the period from January 19, 2024, until the next Itadogun in February 2024.
(81) Iwori Obàrà / worì'brà
This month's Itadogun is full of advice to help us navigate the twists and turns of the year ahead, and to be able to attract ire gbogbo (every good fortune, all blessings) into our lives.
Insist on good behavior.
🤲🏾Of course, your and my success begins with us walking our life path in Iwa Pele (Good Character).
🤲🏾Offers solutions for rearing responsible children.
Our children represent the future. They will inherit the consequences of the decisions you and I make today. This Itadogun gives us insight into the importance of striving to raise responsible children.
🤲🏾Focus on practical matters.
This Itadogun advises us to spend this next month focusing on practical matters, the brick-and-mortar issues that are necessary to keep our personal and collective houses standing, our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual houses.
🤲🏾Transformation leads to spiritual growth. o Transformation is about change. Change in form, appearance, nature, character, or behavior.
This is a good time to remind yourself of the promises you made to yourself and others, about the things that you know you need to change to improve your life and the lives of those around you. Make a list of those important things and get to work on them during this Itadogun cycle.
🤲🏾We mustn't be hard on ourselves.
While you are involved in the above process, be sure to be empathetic and compassionate towards yourself. Ifa teaches is that there is an ebb and flow in the cycles of life. The good things and the difficult things ride these currents. Ifá says we should face all these positive and negative shifts as integral parts of life.
• The person is going thru difficult times but is stubborn and wants things his or her way. o You must ask yourself if this applies to you. You know if it is, and if it is, you also know that this Itadogun is cautioning you to make some changes.
• Must be flexible and humble to achieve success.
🤲🏾What changes? You might ask! Here it is! If you are that stubborn person who wants things his or way then you need to learn to be more flexible, and humble, if you want to attract ire gbogbo into your life and avoid misfortune.
¡WORI OBARA / IWORI'BARÀ "Transformation leads to spiritual growth. Speaks of the need for honesty and to avoid illicit behavior. Ifa says we mustn't be hard on ourselves. But that hard headedness will bring us misfortune. The person is going thru difficult times but is stubborn and wants things his or her way. Must be flexible and humble to achieve success. Generous ebọ to bring good fortune and end tough times." (Fasola)
