One of my absolute favorite things about being a physical therapist is learning and growing! During this 1st year of owning Kristin Ewertz Physical Therapy, I have met and learned from some great myofunctional therapists! Because I see and work with a lot of patients pre and post myofunctional therapy, I have decided to dive deeper and get certified in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy. I'm excited to expand my ability to work with clients and collaborate with some pretty amazing providers in the Wichita and surrounding areas! Reach out with questions! More info to come
Happy Mother's Day to all you mommas who are working so hard for your littles! I see you and understand! Thank you to my precious families who I have met and will meet along this journey!

One of the first milestones of our development starts with tummy time. Tummy time increases our HEAD CONTROL! (sidelying, supported upright and back play also play an important role in head control).
Each milestone builds on itself, like a pyramid. BUT don't be tricked, there are A LOT of little milestones that fit into each skill and contribute to each developmental milestone.
Practicing your child's current milestone, will assist with the next skill.
An example, is your child struggling with sitting? Let's look at the skills leading up to sitting, did your child master the skills leading up to sitting. Maybe they hold tension or have tightness, either of these can affect how a skill is acquired.
Are you wondering if your child needs assistance reaching that next milestone, let's schedule a FREE consultation-email at [email protected] or DM me.

Today is a good day! Starting a business from scratch and growing takes work, faith, vulnerability, patience and trust. (Well the list is endless). I'm celebrating a successful visit with a little, who is making beautiful gains. I'm thankful her mama has let me be a small part of her child's journey!
It's September! September is NICU awareness! I often get asked, " How is my child's adjusted age figured?". Quick example: Baby is 15 weeks but born at 33 weeks, 15 weeks - 7 weeks (amount of weeks early) = 8 weeks adjusted age. The adjusted age is where we should be working when determining what milestones to work on.

If your mama intuition is signaling that something is amiss, here is some good news: You don't have to "wait and see." In Kansas, you don't need a referral to have a pediatric PT assess your child.
Milestones and developmental stages are important markers for our babies and they shouldn't be a mystery.
Allow me, a Pediatric PT, to assist you in supporting your baby's development.
