These two babies were hand caught in a client's home early in the morning. They are small but put up the biggest fight. They wore me out for sure. The clients can finally have their home back in peace.

We had customers who rang for us and said they had a rattlesnake in their bushes. Turned out after finding the shed skin that it was just a common rat or bull snake. About 4 to 5 feet long and no rattle at the end of the tail on the shed. Close call! Fun Fact: most snakes will shake their tail in a defense and when they're in leaves or brush it can sound like a rattle. Better safe than sorry! Was not able to find the snake regardless after a meticulous inspection.

Had our first wasp removal call. Except for this time the customers thought it was located underground. Wrong! We found them and killed them and their nest, located in hollow metal pole of the fence.

Had a dead raccoon removal tonight. Had my son help out with this one. It was lodged in the crevice in between the basement foundation. It was not easy to remove so we are proud of him!!

Collected 6 skunks altogether from a Wildlife job. Still have one more to collect and that will make 7. Mother skunk abandoned them. Not sure why but we had to get these little guys some help.

Babies!! So cute, but yes they are good unless they are living under your air conditioner pad or back porch pad. I can remove and relocate !!

Cottontails are extremely good mothers and one of the only things that will cause them to abandon their nest is the presence of blood.

Cottontails are one of the species most commonly kidnapped from the wild. While your local wildlife rehabilitator can always help you navigate a tricky situation, here’s some quick facts!

🐰 Cottontail moms tend to their kits twice a day, once at dawn and once at dusk. Babies found by themselves aren’t necessarily orphans!

🐰 If you’re going to mow or rake, a walk through the yard can help avoid tragedy. While accidents do happen and many are unavoidable, if you know where nests are you can avoid them.

🐰 Unsure if a nest is abandoned or not? There’s a few different ways you can tell! The first is by putting yarn in a grid tick-tack-tow pattern over top of the nest and seeing if it’s disturbed over 24h. The other is to check a kits stomach. Do this quickly to avoid unnecessary stress, but a cared for kit will have an outwardly rounded stomach whereas an orphaned kit will have a much more sunken in belly.

🐰 Kits leave the nest crazy early, typically around 21 days old, and are about the size of a chipmunk. Their most common fear reaction is to freeze and this state can last potentially for hours. Rabbits that are about the size of a baseball are ready to be on their own!

🐰 As always, any rabbit caught by a dog or cat needs to come in for antibiotics, regardless of age.

Thanks to the Pipsqueakery for the information.

It is mating season for our local rattlesnakes. Be aware out there. I do free removal of any venomous snake. A lot of people would rather kill them, but we love all wildlife and we would rather relocate them than have them exterminated. They play a vital role in the circle of life.

(Not my photo) but I absolutely love this picture.

Hogna Wolf spider we caught sneaking around in our bed. She is the size of a tarantula and that is not an exaggeration.

09/06/2023

Copperheads galore, I am not scared of any snake and will remove them from your property. I remove venomous snakes for free to relocate. I do this so people will not kill them, they're very important in our ecosystem.

This makes me laugh so much. If you have a snake slithering in your garden keep an eye on him and send me a message. I will come catch him and relocate it. Fall is right around the corner and they will be real active preparing for their hibernation.

Fire-roasted stuffed pumpkins prepared to tender, sweet and savory perfection over a smoldering inferno of oak and hickory wood are the essence of outdoor cooking during the upcoming days of fall in the countryside of Southern France!!

This harvest feast starts by brushing the interior of the carved and gutted gourds with a mixture of browned butter, and Weber Sauces & Seasonings Chophouse Butter. The pumpkins are placed in the grill over indirect heat at 375F until the flesh is caramelized and just fork tender.

Meanwhile, sauté ground bacon sausage in white hot cast iron, then add beautifully trimmed chicken thighs to sear in the rendered pork fat. Both are set aside to cool and roughly chopped once the chicken is just cooked though.

In the same skillet, caramelize red onions, roasted minced garlic, finely diced granny smith apples, Anjou pears and swiss chard, ensuring to scrape up all the browned bits along the way. When finished fold in a mixture of wild grains that have been prepared in an aromatic bath of smoked chicken stock and fresh herbs, like parsley, sage and thyme.

Finally, grated aged white cheddar cheese and chopped dry roasted pecans are tossed into the mix before copious amounts of the prepared stuffing is spooned into the pumpkins before loading back into the grill for an additional 10-15 minutes to let all of this natural goodness meld together.

The pumpkins are served family style alongside a fennel-winter kale salad, with a tall poor of ice cold stout. Life just doesn't get much better than this. Stay Hungry. Eat Pumpkins. Carry Forth. -Cheers my friends, David
