A Perfect Plate “regular” asked me if I am enjoying early retirement? 😂😂😂 I am far from retired but I can tell you that my cup is full.

I asked myself, “what has been your favorite thing about closing Perfect Plate?” It was an easy answer… my favorite thing is being able to slow down and be with the people I love. I can’t begin to tell you how grateful I am to have this time!

I asked myself, “what is the thing you miss the most about Perfect Plate?” I was shocked at how easily this came to me too! I miss the people. I miss my employees, my regulars, the people I wouldn’t see for a year but could miraculously remember their name (I tried so hard.) The people made it all worth it. ❤️

I know it may sound cheesy but it is true… being with people, helping people, and building connections are my driving force. This knowledge is valuable to know as I move into the next chapter of my life. It’s like an internal compass finally pointing North!

Hello Perfect Plate friends!

I thought I’d take a moment to bring you along my little journey!

A few weeks ago, I attended the Bill Phillips “Rebuild” Transformation Camp in Denver, Colorado. Bill’s camps started my passion for health in fitness in 2012. I was blessed to attend THIS camp in particular because it was the first camp that Bill has done since 2022 when he nearly lost his battle with the Delta variant of Covid. He is a walking miracle and he is getting better and better every day. This experience was invaluable; no one motivates me quite like my mentors Bill and his wife, Maria. They are both so wise and inspiring! An extra blessing was that an anonymous member paid for me to go to the camp! 🥰

In regard to life, Bill says, “You’re out of time, do it now.” 🥹 It’s so true. What has been heavy on my heart in mind was exactly what Bill had to preach. During camp, I felt heard, seen, validated, and began the process of healing, with my family in tow. It was time to give the same TLC to myself, like I’ve given everyone else for years.

I got to spend quality time with Mark, my buddy and mentor from Nantucket! You may remember when I lived on the island of Nantucket for the summer, having adventures on my bicycle, and I worked in Mark’s cafe? I met SO MANY incredible people at camp that continue to lift me up in our accountability group. ❤️

Since coming home, I have been enjoying getting back to my roots: eating nutrient dense foods, moving my body, lifting some weights, slowing down when I can, and smiling a whole lot!

I’m not perfect but I try hard every day. Bill says, “give it Heaven, give it hell, and give it everything in between and don’t give up.” I am not the same woman as I once was. My circumstances are different but there is still room for “progress not perfection” in my life to make strides towards my well-being.

Thank you for coming along with me! I’m still rooting you on to advocate for your own healthy mind and body. It’s what Perfect Plate was all about. Be brave enough to make the changes that bring you closer to the light. If I can do it, you can too!

I finally found my soup poem that was misplaced! I thought about this poem all the time when I served you all! It really encompasses the passion I felt with Perfect Plate. I still do.

Joanna is one of my most favorite people on the planet! I was a fellow woman owned business in Maize, Perfect Plate, and Joanna and the staff at MOXI Junction kept me from losing my mind some days. It was an escape, a friendly smile from someone who knew my name, and a hug in a mug. ☕️ ❤️Her vision brings so much value and Maize is very lucky to have her bright light! Don’t s***f it out!

I turned the last page of Perfect Plate Maize today and locked her up for the last time. 🥹 The most overwhelming feeling I have is pride! I had a dream and I saw it through for six years!

This is not the end of Perfect Plate, it is just being redefined to better meet the needs of my family. My goal is to have the cookbook done in time for the holidays! I have to admit, I sure miss those convenient little meals! 😊
