⚠️ We are facing an emergency blood shortage, with the lowest number of people giving blood in 20 years.
Donors of all blood types are urgently needed to help patients who are counting on lifesaving blood following accidents, during surgeries, and for treatment of conditions such as sickle cell disease and cancer.
Help us beat the current shortage by scheduling an appointment to give blood or platelets: https://rdcrss.org/47mlaOA

URGENT COLD-WEATHER VOLUNTEER NEED!
In partnership with Rescue Mission Ministries , United Way of Kaw Valley is looking for volunteers in direct response to the severe winter weather affecting our area and most of Kansas with snow, wind and extremely cold temperatures.
IMPORTANT: Your ability to communicate through email will be important for this opportunity, as needs may change due to weather.
Volunteers who respond to this opportunity will receive more direct communication on locations and other volunteer needs THROUGH EMAIL. Currently the warming center will be open starting at 8pm Monday evening and date of closure will be assessed on-going basis.
These volunteers will have support from social service organizations and will greet and serve individuals who need shelter from the extreme cold weather.
These volunteers will be helping and interacting with all members of our community, many whom are in the midst of significant physical, mental and emotional struggles.
These volunteers will be present to compassionately address immediate needs and provide a warm drink and snack.
This opportunity is only available to individuals 18 years of age and older.
There will be both 8-hour and 4-hour shifts, which is listed in the title and description of the volunteer need. Please pay close attention to the shift time.

✨📣 Mentor Capacity Building Mini Grant Opportunity! Guidelines and application available at kanserve.org. 📣✨
Mentor Kansas is a program of the Kansas Volunteer Commission, a program of the Kansas State Department of Education. For almost 16 years, we have worked to increase the capacity of mentoring programs to serve more youth and inspire more Kansans to be mentors. We connect mentoring programs, offer training and technical assistance, and provide funding opportunities and other resources that support program capacity.
To support this purpose, Mentor Kansas announces the availability of grants to support youth mentoring initiatives that implement or enhance one or more of the Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring (EEPM) and its supplements. The EEPM provides a set of evidence-based standards that ensure consistent, effective, and safe mentoring. The supplements to the EEPM expand on best practices to include diverse youth populations or industries that support youth leaders in areas of LGBTQ, E-mentoring, group, peer, STEM, workplace, critical mentoring, and youth with disabilities.
