Completed in 2010, the Richard E. Smith Science Center at Hutchinson Community College houses the math and science programs.
The building's design features a spacious, circular, windowed commons area, wood decking, polished concrete floors, and clerestory lighting, all of which blend natural materials and light to create an organic and welcoming atmosphere

The Wichita Business Journal is having T-shirt contest for the best places to work awards.

Featured on our shirt design is a Wassily chair. This chair was designed in 1926 and is widely regarded as one of the most iconic pieces in modern design. As you walk through Schaefer’s office, you’ll notice Wassily chairs prominently featured in our front lobby and collaboration areas. These chairs have been a staple of our offices since the very beginning. The Wassily chair holds a strong connection to Schaefer Architecture’s long history and we invite everyone who comes into our space to “Sit and Stay a While.”

On April 29, 2022, the Wichita Metropolitan Area was hit with a disastrous EF3 tornado, impacting areas of Andover, including the Dr. Jim Farha Andover YMCA. Schaefer Architecture swiftly began their work with the Greater Wichita YMCA to commence architectural plans to build back better.

Two years later, the Andover YMCA held its ribbon-cutting, and officially opened its doors to the community on May 20, 2024. Along with repairs, an aesthetic refresh was implemented throughout the redesign of the building, creating a bright and inviting space for all to enjoy.
