🏞️🐮🐷 Have you ever sliced and eaten a starfruit? Gone to your county fair for the evening to support local 4H clubs? Wanted to explore some different scenery nearby?

🍉There's no time to do it like sweet summertime!! I created this printable bucket list to give children some fun and realistic goals they can accomplish this summer!

📝 If you like planning ahead, you can print one of for each child and get together as a family to fill-in each line with specifics you'd like to achieve! More spontaneous? Complete each line as you go!

☀️What is going to be on your bucket list this summer? 🌴

Building confidence is just as important as building skills 🫶🏻

WE DID IT!!!! (And then some!)

I turned the fundraising over to my tutoring students and they KILLED IT, just like I knew they would 🫶🏻💪🏻

Altogether, we sold 8️⃣1️⃣ dozen digital donuts!!! That’s $447 that will go towards paying for in-person reading tutoring this summer - all for our kids right here in Eureka
❤️🤍💙

🙏🏻 Thank you so much to everyone that has supported these kids - their parents, those of you that donated, and everyone else that is cheering them on!

☀️ I can’t wait to share with you how much they learn this summer!!

Starting Orton Gillingham reading training to help all of our kids be better readers ❤️📚
3️⃣ hours down, 29 to go!
BTW - did you know there are 8 ways to make the long-a sound?! 😱 Just 1 reason reading is so HARD!

26/04/2024

💡 That moment when you know you “get it” … it never gets old for me or for the kids!

23/04/2024

Mamas, I’m right here with you 🫶🏻
Does getting your child to read or do homework look like this?
Do you anticipate the tears and arguments before they even start?
Is your child’s homework too hard, too confusing, too much … but you know you have to make them do it?
Do you feel like you don’t know how to help them?
💔 I can’t take the homework away, but I can tell you it’s going to be okay. When our children struggle with something that we know is a life skill that they HAVE to learn, it is very stressful for us.
What if they never get it?
What if they get made fun of?
What if they feel like a failure?
❤️ My daughter doesn’t struggle with reading, but she struggles with other things that we deal with on nearly a daily basis.
Where did I go wrong?
Why is she like that?
I don’t know what to do and I’m so frustrated for my child and for myself!
🧡 That’s what experts are for. That’s what doctors, therapists, tutors, counselors, social workers, nurses … are for. They help us when we can’t help ourselves or our kids.
💛 It is never too late to learn something and it’s never to early to learn that struggling in life is NORMAL. Tell your child that struggling doesn’t feel good, but it’s normal. Tell your child what you struggle with, in an age-appropriate way, then show them your strength. Talk to your child about their friends’ struggles, if it’s not a breach of confidence. Tell your child that EVERYONE struggles, whether we see it or not. And tell them that if or when we overcome our current struggles, we’ll struggle with something else! It is okay to normalize life being hard. It is so important for all of us, even our little ones, to know that we are not alone.
🩵 Maybe your child will never be the most fluent reader in their class. Maybe your child looks a way they don’t want to look, feels a way they don’t want to feel, acts a way they don’t want to act, moves a way they don’t want to move.
💜 But know, working through struggles and working DESPITE struggles builds the type of person we want our children to be. They will be resilient and compassionate; they will have perspective and grit. They will one day be the greatest people that we know.
❤️ It is going to be okay

Online tutoring has come a long way since the education world was forced to go online in 2020!

Often, a virtual option has benefits that even outweigh being in-person.

Here are the top 5 benefits of tutoring online:

1. Flexibility 🗺️
We can connect anywhere at any time! Whether you’re traveling, are at another child’s sports activity, your child isn’t feeling 100%, your car is in the shop, or you live 1,000 miles away … you name it, our tutoring session can still happen! Being able to consistently attend means your child gets the maximum benefit of tutoring!

2. Convenience 💻
Your child can get himself/herself to their own tutoring session - all they have to do is grab their device and login! No loading up the other kids, no leaving the house when you need to be making dinner, no need to occupy yourself for 30 min while your child is tutoring in-person, no scheduling around nap times! It’s just easy when life is already hectic and schedules are full!

3. Collaboration Tools 🛠️
Online tutoring is no longer your child sitting and reading a screen! I have so many fun tricks and tools to get your child active in their online learning. We can do just as many hands-on activities online as we can in person!

4. Familiar Environment 🏡
Your child gets the benefit of learning from the familiarity and security of their own home. This eliminates the adjustment period that many of our children feel when walking into a new space.

5. Saves Time And Money 💸
You are actually saving money with online tutoring! No gas used, no grabbing a Sonic drink to pass the time, no QT run for snacks, no time away from your job, no driving time and no loading the car 🙌🏻🚘

🌎 We are now able to take full advantage of all of the trial and error that students and educators experienced when learning went online 4 years ago!

👩🏼‍🏫 Virtual tutoring is now such an asset to our little learners!

✨ Imagine reading looking like this
All
The
Time

This is what text looks like to some people with dyslexia.
Children with dyslexia, or other processing difficulties, need multi-sensory reading instruction.
They need repetition and intense interventions.
I teach children how to read using the Orton Gillingham approach. It is structured, step-by-step, repetitive, and multisensory. It has been designed to help struggling readers learn the connections between letters and sounds.
I am currently enrolling for in-person and virtual summer tutoring. Message me if you have questions or would like more information!

🫶🏻 Teaching children to read takes a village and it takes commitment from all of us:

1. Teachers:
Between now and the end of May, I am investing in 32 hours of training through Orton-Gillingham Institute of Multi-Sensory Education, including over $1,500 in tuition and new materials. I will be certified in teaching their structured reading approach that has long-studied, scientifically proven results. It is the gold standard in reading instruction and targets students with reading difficulties, including dyslexia. 🥇

2. Students and their families:
Their commitment is emotional, mental and financial. It is stress, victories, and lots of tears. They commit, out of love, to the child’s success. 💖

3. Community:
Our community must commit to supporting these children. Literacy skills are directly related to the future income potential and career success of these children. They need not just the skills themselves but the confidence that they CAN do hard things. 🤜🏻🤛🏻

☀️ This fundraiser will get these kids the skills they need through “high-impact reading tutoring with me this summer!

💸 No, private tutoring is not cheap.

👩🏼‍🏫 Being the best tutor I can be isn’t cheap.

Even with a full schedule this summer, I’ll barely break even with what I’m investing in training and materials.

💪🏻 But, guys, we can do this. Being able to read is the most important life skill we can have. We can make a commitment to our community’s kids that they will get the support they need.

🍩 I’m going to post like crazy about these dang donuts until I raise over $400 worth, so get ready 🤣

📚📚📚 Let’s get these kids reading!!!

01/04/2024

🍩 I just got the BEST news!!! I’ve been working on this for about a week & found out that Krispy Kreme selected OUR application to host a fundraiser through them 🙌🏻

I cannot wait to see how much summer scholarship money we can raise‼️ This is a delicious way to spend your dollars and help some of the greatest kids 😋

👇🏻 Here’s how is works:

💰 You send $14.00 to me, and I send you a coupon for 1 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts.

THAT’S IT!!! It does not expire! This is about $1.00 off the normal price for 1 dozen.

📚 Wonder Room keeps half of all proceeds for our scholarship fund, which will be divided among all students receiving in-person reading tutoring this summer, which is 3 times per week, costing $216 per month, per child.

My goal is to “raise enough dough” 😉😉 to pay for half of each child’s summer tutoring tuition ❤️

💖 So many great ways to use your dozen:

✅ Mother’s Day brunch
✅ Father’s Day breakfast
✅ Graduation party
✅ Teacher appreciation week
✅ Last day of school surprise
✅ Baby shower treats
✅ Gift to a new mama
✅ Summer surprise treats
✅ Holiday breakfast for fall/winter
✅ Class parties
✅ Child’s birthday party

🎁 You can gift your coupon!!

🎊 There is no limit to how many you can buy at this price!

💸 I can give you a discount if you purchase 5 or more dozen - message me for info on that!

What next⁉️
Comment or message me how many dozen you’d like! Then you can PayPal or Venmo me, or send a check.

Fundraiser closes April 15.

🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩
I speak for all of the children and families benefiting from your purchases - thank you so much ❤️
