We had 38 babies born- 22 boys and 16 girls!

That’s 412 hours of bedside labor support between myself (Sara), Mary, Katie, and Allison.

We also attended 5 vbac (vaginal birth after cesarean)

I made 6,593 placenta capsules (boy that’s a lot of time on my feet!)

Welcome Simone! This sweet first-time mom worked hard, had to find the strength to rally, then worked hard some more. Had the best support from her husband & doula & ended up birthing her sweet girl in one push on hands/knees. Birth takes all different forms & we talk a lot about how there is no “perfect” birth. You get in it, work hard & do your best, and the baby is born in whatever amazing way he/she needs to be born! This momma was a rockstar in all the best ways 🌟

Staff transitions are always filled with grief & gratitude. The work that Born is doing in Wichita is important work & we will never stop trying to put the right people in the best roles so that everyone here can continue to get autonomy in healthcare & birth! We truly have had the best people on our team through the years, & we are always sad to see them go when life pulls them away.

We are also so excited about the direction Born is going & the new opportunities that continue to come our way, which means we have the chance to bring more people into the sacred circle that is our paid staff.

We are hiring in a couple different positions, the most important right now being a new office manager/front desk receptionist.

There are a couple things about this specific position I will tell you:

1. The most important thing is finding someone who is passionate about natural birth & giving women autonomy in healthcare. If you are not familiar with Born’s mission, probably not your job!
2. This job requires in-office & at-home hours. If you can be flexible & grow with us, that’s a plus!
3. Office front desk experience is a must - comfortable working with QuickBooks, excel & invoicing.
4. If you have been in healthcare (CNA, RN Ect) and have experience at a front desk - that would make me so happy!

What a special family and birth and what an honor to be a small part! This amazing mama is unbelievably strong and has gone through so much. When her birth started right off the bat not “following the birth plan”, she continued to trust the process and gracefully take it in stride. She is so fierce, and an incredible mother. I hope she is really proud of herself- I sure am. Even though labor wasn’t anything like we envisioned, delivery was ultimately precious beyond imagination. Lights off, hands off, quiet respectful voices, and big sister eagerly awaiting her snuggles with “her” baby. All birthdays are special but this one will always have its own little nook in my heart!

There’s so much pressure for a at birth. Yet, it’s not possible for so many babies and families. Because of this overemphasis, families can experience emotional turmoil, leading to long lasting mental health issues and grieving an experience and notion that their baby didn’t get something “optimal”.

But, what isn’t talked about is the ability to create your own healing golden hours…and those can be created over and over again.

Grief over lost & traumatic experiences may be there, but joy can be created, too.

Thankful our AMAZING team was on hand and everything turned out perfect! This situation and this family are incredible 🤩

Being on call is most of what your doula does for you. Whether you are 34 weeks pregnant or 42 weeks pregnant you need to know that the doula you hired and paid for is going to be there.

We are so blessed to have a wonderful team for doula partnership, backup, and covering for each other during illnesses and emergencies. While on call, we have to cancel plans, not go out of town, go to bed early, have backup plans for our kids, etc.

We take your birth seriously and will be ready when you need us. 🥰
