Applications to join our core team are now open! We have positions open on all three of our teams: educators, consultants, outreach. Anyone is welcome to apply, regardless of major. Find the application link in our bio and check out our website to learn more.
Join us this THURSDAY (11/2) for our last workshop of the semester! We will be talking about ethical artificial intelligence. In particular, we will see how unrepresentative datasets can lead to algorithms that display high error rates for the least represented components of the data. Then, we will work to improve these models and discuss how we can work towards a general solution for more ethical AI approaches. RSVP through the link in our bio! Hope to see you there.
Come to our Computer Vision Workshop TOMORROW (11/18) to learn more about neural networks!
Join us THIS THURSDAY (11/18) for a workshop on computer vision at 7pm in Washington 219! Register for the workshop via the link in our bio. No prior coding experience is needed. Hope to see you there.
Were you unable to attend our workshop on machine learning? No worries! Check out the workshop resources (link in bio) to see the slides and completed kaggle script!
Watch our first short form content on Conway’s Game of Life! It’s a great way to break into computer science. We hope you enjoy.
Join us THIS THURSDAY (10/28) for our very first workshop this semester on models and applications! No prior coding experience is needed. Feel free to email or message us with any questions. Hope to see you there!
Our workshop series this semester is about Demystifying Machine Learning!
Join us as we explore:
• The range of models used in machine learning and some of the exciting new applications of these cutting-edge algorithms!
• Deep learning algorithms that are being used to decipher image data
•Some of the main topics within the burgeoning field of ethical Artificial Intelligence and show how issues of systematic bias can be addressed in a machine learning context
Our first workshop is THIS THURSDAY (10/28) on models and applications, so be sure to come out!
Last but not least, meet the outreach team! We promote DSC and spread the word about our workshops on campus. If you’re interested in receiving monthly newsletters from us, join us on our website (link in bio).
Next up we have our Consultants! Our consultants work on projects for different organizations and research groups on campus. Some of our past projects have included apps for MindVersity and Campus Es**rt. This semester, we are working on both a website to allow branches of Alliance for Peacebuilding to connect and a script to automate the identification process for different chemical classes for the WM Chemistry Department.
Meet our Educators! These 5 DSC Core Team members work year round to put together workshops and workshop series for all to attend. They have done an incredible job these past few semesters and we are excited to welcome a few new members this year! This semester, we are hosting a workshop series called “Demystifying Machine Learning”. Check out our website to learn more about these awesome workshops and register to attend!
Stop by our booth at the activities fair on Monday to learn more about what we do! Hope to see you there!
Stop by our booth at the activities fair on Tuesday to learn more about what we do! Hope to see you there!
Join us tomorrow to learn about scientific computing and data visualization! This will be our LAST workshop of the semester so be sure to stop by. RSVP through our website from the link in our bio :) Hope to see you there and good luck on any final assignments!
Don’t forget to apply before 11:59 TONIGHT to join our core DSC team! Application link is in the bio :) Feel free to message us with any questions!

Welcome Class of 2025 and CONGRATS on your acceptance to William and Mary 🥳
We are the William and Mary chapter of Developer Student Club, powered by Google Developers!
We are a university group for student developers and aim to build bridges between computer science and other disciplines through education series and consulting projects with research groups on campus. We will work with new technologies and languages by building projects!
Anyone is able to join, regardless of your major or year! Follow along to see all of the cool things we will be doing. Link in the bio for more information :)
Check out our feed, story, and website to learn more about what we do! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out and ask.

Come to our upcoming workshop next Thursday, April 22, to learn more about Agent-Based Modeling using NetLogo!
Natural language processing (NLP) is one of the most exciting areas of computer science, where tools are being developed using machine learning and statistics to make traditionally unapproachable data sources (text data) more accessible! In conjunction with modern web scraping techniques, NLP can be used to quickly parse and analyze the massive amount of text data online. Join Emilio Luz-Ricca from W&M’s Developer Student Club for an introductory tutorial to NLP in python with spaCy and TextBlob applied to data that we will scrape using the Beautiful Soup and Newspaper3k libraries. Prior experience with python is preferable, but by no means necessary!
