This past year has been surreal.

For those of you that have been following along, you know that I left my corporate job and started MIG just 16 months ago. At that point, it was just me, my laptop, and my cellphone.

I had a good life before I decided to start my own business. I never worried about a paycheck, never worried about health insurance, I took vacations, & I enjoyed my job.

But I had no idea how much I was missing out on. Every single day is still more challenging than the last. But I would do it all again…100 times over. And nothing can replace the blessing that is spending more time with my (growing) family than ever before.

There’s still a lot of work to be done and a million and one things I want to do to grow MIG & take better care of our clients. But I’m proud of how far MIG has come in 2023.

We hit a major milestone on the last day of the year and surpassed $1,000,000 in written premium. Over 200 businesses & families trust us with protecting the things they care about most.

And it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my wife, my family, & the absolute greatest clients in the world.

I can’t wait to see what happens in 2024 - Happy New Year!

This week marks 1 year since my entrepreneurship journey began 🤯

Over the last 12 months, I've had more ups & downs than I've had in my entire life. From learning an entirely new side of the insurance industry, to competing with century-old agencies, & worrying about if I was going to be able to keep the lights on at home...it's been an experience I never could have imagined.

But it has taught me more than I could have asked for. Here's a few lessons I've learned in business & in life over the last year...

1. Time spent with loved ones is worth more than any paycheck. I would (& did) give up a steady paycheck to be present with my family ten times over.
2. Going against the grain is scary. But sometimes it's the only way to get to where you want to go.
3. Sometimes the grass is greener on the other side. Just depends on how willing you are to water it.

In the last 12 months, I've had the opportunity to help nearly 100 families & businesses with their insurance needs. And while most people are used to the way "insurance has always been done", we've been able to help so many people by doing it differently.

Words can't express how grateful I am for the people who have supported me along the way, but there are even less words to describe how excited I am for the future of McHugh Insurance Group!

Football taught me a lot of business lessons...

I just didn't realize it at the time.

Keep grinding!
