I stopped by Heritage Community Church in Fruitland Park recently to see their operations serving the community by providing the Florida Baptist Convention Mobile Dentistry Bus. This bus travels throughout Florida providing dental services to those who are uninsured. It was great to meet Dr. Morgan Kubis from Marion Dental Group and her dental assistant, Leslie Wilson - two of the Community Ministry volunteers who provide their time to give free dental services. Thank you for using your professional skills to give back to our community while also improving the health of citizens

A term "mass incarceration" has been used by my opponent Monique Worrell and others in the left-wing of the across the country. That term, whether you want to call it marketing, propaganda, advertising, or brainwashing, is being used in order to slowly inject into our collective consciousness that all incarceration is a crime against society in and of itself. This is not only factually incorrect, but a horrific moral failure to of and every . Incarceration exists in order to punish those that have hurt others or stolen property. Incarceration exists to force criminals to think about what they have done and hopefully change their behavior in the future. Incarceration exists to deter others from committing crimes.

Yes, there is incarceration in this country; an appropriate level of incarceration. Crime is at a 50 year low throughout the US. That has nothing to do with any one . Today in there are 3,223 people in the Orange County Jail out of a residential population of 1,500,000. In , there are 889 in the jail out of a population of 450,000. What that means is that 99.8% of our community members and neighbors ARE NOT incarcerated. Put another way, only 0.2% are behind bars. That is not even counting the 75 million tourists gets every year, which reduces that percentage. There is nothing "mass" about 0.2%.

One of the goals of Monique Worrell seems to be to reduce the number of people behind bars. Those in jail are there because they committed serious crimes. Found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt by a jury and sentenced by a learned Judge, or they saw the evidence was so great against them that not even one juror could find reasonable doubt in their case, so they accepted a plea. Those without bond have violated their probation, or their prior bond, or are accused of very serious crimes. The platform of any should be for the . The people vote for their representatives who write criminal laws, it is not the place of a to undermine the will of the electorate. Facts matter.
