For this weeks #workonitwednesday we are highlighting the importance of play with food!

Mealtimes can often be stressful and they become more stressful when you have a picky eater. Here are some tips and tricks to make food more motivating for your child:

🍽 Fun plates and utensils - make mealtime into a game by trying some of the many interactive trays, plates, and utensils available
👩‍🍳 Helping with meal preparation - letting your kids help cook can be motivating and a great sensory experience
👉🏽 Tactile exploration - encourage your child to get messy! Tactile exploration will help to decrease aversion and create positive associations with foods and mealtimes.

For the month of November we are addressing feeding and picky eating. This week’s #workonitwednesday is focused on oral motor activities to prepare your child for mealtime. Here are some activities you can try at home: ✨chewy tubes - builds jaw strength, assists with developing a mature chewing pattern, decreases oral sensory seeking ✨Z-vibe - increases oral awareness and “wakes up” the mouth in preparation for foods ✨Bubbles - improves lip and breath control, increases strength in orbicularis oris (muscles around the mouth) ✨ Straw activities - improves lip and breath control, increases strength in orbicularis oris
