The National Gymnastics Curriculum is a course providing uniformed education, and was created in collaboration with some of the country's most renowned gymnasts and coaches including Liang Chow, Kim Zmeskal, Yin Alvarez, Jake Dalton, and others.

There is no way to avoid the brutal reality: gymnastics culture is in need of a massive overhaul. This is not a new concept, as many have been talking about it over the last two decades.
However, the recent incredible documentary Athlete A on Netflix has, rightfully so, shaken the gymnastics community to the point of invoking anger, disbelief, and a demand for real, meaningful change.
Today on the blog, I share a new podcast where I dive deep into the main issues I feel we are facing and some suggestions for how to start changing our sport for the better.

What does it mean to be a coach?
What does it mean to you to be a coach?
As noted in this lecture, the word “coach” is derived from the German word “kutsche”, meaning to carry.
Therefore, being a coach is much more than just teaching gymnastics, but a coach must help carry their gymnast in all aspects towards their goals!

HASME - Moving
Now, more than ever, it is important for recreational coaches to be moving with a sense of urgency in their classes. With hands-on coaching being minimized during this time, the best way to show that a coach is engaged with their class is by moving quickly from gymnast to gymnast with a pep in their step.

Chow on the Round Off Entry
For Coach Chow, the Round Off Layout drill for Yurchenckos is more about isolating the board strike rather than getting the gymnast ready for table position or flipping.

Yin Alvarez, former Cuban national team member and coach of numerous US national team members, will be sharing his knowledge of men's gymnastics.
We are also proud to introduce Alina and Olaya from Tumblebees of Miami! They will be providing great insight to compulsory gymnastics.
Jake Dalton will be featured in the National Gymnastics Curriculum! Jake is a 2-Time Olympian, competing in both the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games, as well as a 4-Time World Medalist.
Meet coach Liang Chow. Chow was a former Chinese national team member and is the owner of Chow's Gymnastics and Dance in Des Moines, Iowa. Chow has coached numerous elite level gymnasts, most notably Shawn Johnson and Gabby Douglas. Chow will share his extensive knowledge on Bars and Vault in the National Gymnastics Curriculum!
Meet Coach Kim Zmeskal. Kim was a member of the 1992 Olympic team in Barcelona. She is the owner of Texas Dreams Gymnastics in Coppell Texas. Kim has coached several National Team Members including Emma Malabuyo, Bailie Key, and 2016 Olympian Ragan Smith. Kim will share her extensive knowledge of Beam and Floor in the National Gymnastics Curriculum!
