๐ŸŽ† Always provide adult supervision and keep fireworks away from small children.
๐ŸŒณ Use fireworks far away from animals, trees, buildings, storage tanks and other combustibles.
๐Ÿชฃ Keep a bucket of water nearby to cool spent sparkler wires and extinguish other fireworks.
๐Ÿพ Do not let children or animals run through the area where fireworks are being set off. They could step on a hot spent firework.
๐Ÿšซ Do not try to re-light a dud.
๐Ÿ“ Read instructions carefully for each device. If it looks damaged, donโ€™t use it.

If you plan to celebrate with fireworks at home, remember fireworks that fly or explode are illegal in Minnesota. Examples of illegal fireworks are firecrackers, bottle rockets and Roman candles. Certain non-explosive and non-aerial consumer fireworks (such as sparklers, cones and tubes that emit sparks, and novelty items like snakes and party poppers) are permitted but should be used with caution.

โ€œIf something seems too good to be trueโ€ฆit probably is.โ€ Listen is as Detective Lynn Lawrence shares information about various financial fraud scams. Our team is dedicated to learning about new scams and helping scam victims. We are equally dedicated to educating our community and sharing preventative measures, because we know prevention is the very best tool. Recently, our financial fraud prevention outreach has had a focus on cryptocurrency scams. We have connected with senior living facilities, businesses who have cryptocurrency ATMs, and just a few weeks ago we testified at the Minnesota House of Representative Commerce Finance and Policy Committee hearing where they were discussing Representative Amanda Hemmingsen-Jaegerโ€™s bill which would provide more restrictions around cryptocurrency ATMs and put protections in place for Minnesota residents. Although scammers might change their tactics, Public Safetyโ€™s consistent message is to be cautious when sharing personal information, financial information or funds of any kind with someone you have not met. If you believe you have been scammed, contact public safety quickly so we can begin to help.

December 2023
We recently honored Officer Luke Taschuk and Detective Adam Olson with Woodbury Public Safetyโ€™s Lifesaving award for their quick, efficient and intentional actions to save a manโ€™s life in December 2023. We also learned Officer Taschuk and Detective Olson will be honored by the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association with a Lifesaving award for their response to this call. Officer Taschuk and Detective Olson were responding to a call regarding a vehicle that had hit a guard rail, had smoke coming from it and was continuing to drive lane-to-lane down the highway. Officer Taschuk was the first on scene, discovered the vehicle had crashed into a retention pond and was on fire. He quickly ran toward the vehicle and without hesitation he pulled the man (observed to be having a seizure) from the driverโ€™s seat. Detective Olson arrived, sprinted towards the vehicle to assist, and together he and Officer Taschuk untangled the man from the seatbelt and moved him away from the vehicle fire. Detective Olson went back to the burning vehicle to assure no other passengers were in danger. This video highlights the swift and heroic actions from Officer Taschuk and Detective Olson. Together, they worked intentionally to save a manโ€™s life and did so with unwavering courage and deep compassion for human life. We are proud of Officer Taschuk and Detective Olson; but more than just proud; we are grateful for teammates who run towards danger to help those in great need.
