Please join us in welcoming another new team member: Blake Kogel! Blake joined us this summer and works on the line in the kitchen. When he's not here, he's usually at home, creating incredible artwork! (Swipe to see!)

Blake first got into art as a kid, with paints, mechanical pencil, crayon... The practice fell off for a while as he got older, but not long ago, at a previous job, he decided one night to see if he still had it, & drew a new piece with mechanical pencil. He showed that drawing to someone, and not long after, he got his first request for a commissioned artwork. This, combined with an inspiring video from another artist Blake follows online, prompted him to step up his game, go out and buy some charcoals, and research what kind of paper to use in order to pursue his art as more than just a hobby.

Blake enjoys the look of "capturing beauty out of chaos" that comes with his use of charcoals. He especially enjoys taking requests to draw subjects like wedding photos, baby photos, military portraits, as, he says, "Especially if it's a loved one, or people that have passed, I can feel the importance and what it will mean to them after they see it."

A week ago we had the honor to host the Combat Marine Outdoors 501c3 Non-Profit group. (CMO) They took me on a hunt in Texas last year where I was blessed to harvest a Red Stag. They presented me with this rifle plaque for the restaurant for our efforts in hosting them. Top notch organization. They are in the process of having the Stag mounted and then sending it to me. Stay tuned! Thanks Master Guns for all you and your organization do for our wounded Veterans.

One of the special nights for our detachment each month is the 2nd Friday. We get together for some good food, and good company. But tonight was VERY special.

2nd Friday fell on the NINTH anniversary of the opening of Semper Fi / Rally Point Grille. This is where we meet each month, and the staff could not be any more gracious to us... and helpful to each and every Veteran and First Responder that walks into the place. And ours in most likely the smallest of the examples of all that Ralph and Carrie and most definitely the entire staff help each and every day.

I received approval from our National and Department Officers to (for the first time as far as anyone knows) to award a Distinguished Service Award to the entire staff of Semper Fi / Rally Point Grille, for their unwavering support of the veterans of all branches of service.

Bravo Zulu to Ralph, Carrie, Anthony, Sam, and the entire staff. Well deserved and well earned.

We want to thank Dr Fahrenheit HVAC for installing a new 15 ton HVAC system to our building. The first unit they installed six months ago is working great, so why go to anyone else to install this one.

Please join us in welcoming our new RPG Woodstock General Manager, Shayne Mazlik! Shayne comes from a military family, with a dad who served in the Air Force for 23 years before retiring & taking a position at Lockheed. Previously, Shayne's lived at Eglin and Gunter Air Force bases, as well as some time in Alaska! He first moved to the Atlanta area when he was 11, and returned in 2010.

Ask Shayne about one of his favorite hobbies - home brewing! After starting in 2011, he promptly took 3rd place in the Georgia Sam Adams Longshot American Home Brew Competition with his Snickers Milk Stout, his first own written & brewed recipe!

He also enjoys the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking. He recommends checking out nearby George W. Disney Trail in Dalton and Tallulah Gorge.

Shayne was drawn to Rally Point for its mission of supporting our military, veterans, and first responders. He highly recommends trying our braised beef and the Rally Point Grille Lager!

Rosie the Riveter is the iconic symbol of women's involvement in World War II. She is one part of a larger story about the many ways women contributed to and were affected by war. World War II changed the everyday social, cultural, and economic realities of life in the United States, especially for women. Beyond Rosie: Women in World War II explores the lives of women in World War II. This exhibit is from the Museum of History and Holocaust Education (MHHE) at Kennesaw State University.

Today we're featuring our Bar Manager Sam, who has been with Rally Point 9 years now! Sam is RPG owners Ralph & Carrie's daughter. She started work at RPG (then Semper Fi) as a dishwasher when she was 15, then moved up to hostess at 16, a server at 18, and a bartender at 21. In January 2022, she became Merchandise Manager, and in early 2023, she became Bar Manager!
