Last night our very own G&O Construction major boys team beat Joe Schwartz LL 5-1 after 8 grueling innings earning them a spot in the championship game tomorrow night (8/24) against Jesse Burkett LL. Game starts at 6:30 pm at Jesse Burkett. GOOD LUCK BOYS!!!

8-10 & 11-12 Softball wrapped up their pool play on Friday night. Our 8-10 team finished pool play as the #4 seed, and they advance to the semifinals on Sunday at 5:30 vs. Joe Schwartz LL at Rockwood Field. Our 11-12 team battled in an competitive pool but unfortunately did not advance to the playoff round. Great job by all of our players and coaches on both of our Softball teams, and good luck to the 8-10's on Sunday evening. Our Baseball teams get going this weekend with the 8-10's opening pool play on Sunday at 8:00 vs. Jesse Burkett LL at Ted Williams. They continue pool play on Tuesday at 8:00 vs. Rutland LL and Thursday at 5:30 vs. Clinton LL. Both of those games are also at Ted Williams. 11-12 Baseball opens pool play on Monday at 8:00 vs. Holden LL at Rutland. They continue pool play on Wednesday at 8:00 vs. Rutland LL and Friday at 5:30 vs. Joe Schwartz LL. Both of those games are also at Rutland. Good luck to both teams.

Registration for the 2022 Jack Barry Little League season is now OPEN for all levels of Baseball & Softball at http://www.leagueathletics.com/Registration/?org=jackbarryworcester.com. While we are currently dealing with another setback in our ongoing battle with COVID-19, we are planning for the 2022 season to be a full return to our normal operations. Like last season, we are not offering “Early-Bird” discounted registration fees, but we are maintaining the lower registration fees introduced last season. We are also lowering our Tee-Ball registration fee again this season. To encourage timely registrations, however, we are introducing a Late Fee of $10 this season for registrations after February 28th. New for 2022! Our baseball boundaries have expanded to include a portion of the former Connie Mack district. Connie Mack LL disbanded at the conclusion of the 2021 season. Despite the best efforts of a small but dedicated group of CMLL coaches and board members, the league did not have enough new volunteers to continue operations. While we don’t like to see a league fold, this new territory will bring more players to our program. Our baseball territory now extends to Interstate 290 and over Green Hill Park to the east side of Lincoln Street. We should also take the disbanding of Connie Mack as a cautionary reminder of how our league and all leagues rely on the tireless efforts of volunteers to provide a fun and safe opportunity for our kids to play baseball and softball. Programs do not fold because of lack of players, they fold due to lack of volunteers. We also enter the 2nd year of our expanded softball territory, and we look forward to welcoming more softball players (and volunteers) from the Lou Gehrig LL & Ty Cobb LL districts for the 2022 season.
