This weekend in YTT we continued to peer teach and work on sequencing. The group did an amazing job!! I felt inspired to share this sequence because of our Wellness Challenge. it’s easy to put off yoga, or any exercise. On the other hand, when your commitment is to complete a short series of postures, like this Sun Salutation, it can be easier to make time for wellness. A Sun Salute can be done at home, or even in an empty conference room at the office. On days you can’t make it to the studio, try this practice on your own. The Classical Sun Salutation is a series of postures synchronized with your breath to create an intelligent and graceful flow of movement. Sun Salutations are often used as a warm-up for a more challenging yoga flow, but they can also be performed by themselves. Just a few rounds can help you feel more focused, flexible, strong, grateful, blissful, and aligned. Adding this moving meditation to your day doesn’t require a lot of time, special equipment or space. This version of classical Sun Salutations is beginner-friendly. Build up your strength by starting with one or two repetitions and slowly build up your reps over time. When you need more challenge a few variations can be added to adapt the practice. As you start the sequence you might choose to set an intention for that day. By noticing your breath, you’ll feel centered, grounded and in the moment. Allow sensations to arise in your body while moving through each pose. With regular, daily practice you’ll feel physically stronger and more flexible. Mentally, the sequence instills a sense of peace and purpose. Stress melts away from the body and mind, giving rise to a feeling of inner peace.
