A message from our bereavement team:

“Thank you to all who have donated blankets to our bereaved families. We cannot believe the amazing response we have gotten from the community. Our hearts are so full and so are our shelves.
While we would love to continue accepting donations, at this time we have reached our limit due to available storage space. If you have made blankets with the intention of donating to us, we would love for you to consider sending them this fall/winter.”

Meet Dr. Christopher DeAngelo, an OBGYN Resident at UMass Memorial Medical Center.

"I initially was also interested in sports medicine from my childhood sports injuries. However, I had privilege to shadow an IVF physician while I lived in DC for college and that experience confirmed that I wanted to become a doctor and also began my interest in OB/GYN!

My favorite part of my job is making a bond with a family as they get to meet their newborn. There is nothing better than when you get to meet a patient and their family at the beginning of their labor experience, be with them throughout the whole process, and then celebrate with them as they get to meet their new baby!

My most memorable moment of my career so far was being there to help deliver a friend’s baby!

I love all the different personalities I've met here at UMass Memorial Health. Whether you are L&D, in the OR, the cafeteria... everyone is so friendly, fun to work with, and it makes UMass Memorial a special community.

When I'm not working, I can often be seen playing soccer or eating meatball sandwiches at Vincent’s."

We have a last minute opportunity to send five new or expectant mothers from the UMass Memorial Community to participate in a special Mother’s Day lunch in Foxborough this Thursday, May 9th.

The invitation is for individual mothers and transportation is not provided.

These spaces will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Confirmed attendees will receive a release form to fill out along with the official event invitation.

Update: Thank you to all for supporting our bereaved families. We have gotten so many lovely donations and are happy to report we are fully stocked with blankets at this time.💗

Do you love to knit or crochet? The supply of blankets in the Maternity Center for bereaved families is critically low. They are in desperate need of donations that are light weight for swaddling these precious babies in all colors, especially pink and blue.

20-24” blankets preferred, all sizes and materials will be accepted. Please drop off in the main lobby at the Memorial Campus (119 Belmont Street) and label donations with “East 4 Labor and Delivery”

Members of our PFAC were able to help pass cookies, courtesy of the Patient Experience Department, in the Maternity Center on Tuesday. We love taking these opportunities to connect with patients and hear their stories.
