PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kasey Robbins Appointed as the PNW Selects Director of Coaching for PNW Rugby
PNW Rugby is pleased to announce the appointment of Kasey Robbins as its Selects Director of Coaching. With a rich history in both education and rugby, Robbins brings a holistic approach to the development of the sport in the region.
A Central Washington University alumnus, Robbins earned a B.S. in Exercise Science and was an active rugby player during her time there. She later pursued a Master's in Education Leadership from Eastern Washington University. Professionally, Robbins has served as an athletic trainer, paramedic, sports medicine teacher, and is currently the Assistant Principal at Miller Junior High in Aberdeen, WA.
Robbins' rugby resume is as impressive as her academic and professional credentials. In 2009, she played a pivotal role in establishing the first Single School boys' rugby program with Shelton Rugby, followed by a girls' program in 2010. Between 2010 and 2013, she continued to coach Shelton Rugby, leading the team to several successes before moving to Yakima. There, she furthered her legacy by coaching the Yakima rugby program to two boys' championships. Her leadership was also instrumental in leading the Shelton girls' sevens team to three championships.
During her tenure in Shelton, Robbins coached the WA Girls Loggers, leading them to a commendable second-place finish at the Pacific Coast Invitational in 2011 and at the Great Northwest Challenge in both 2012 and 2013.
Robbins' commitment to the growth of rugby is further evidenced by her service on the Cascade Rugby board in Eastern WA, where she was instrumental in expanding the union to accommodate over 500 athletes. Moreover, she played a crucial role in forging a partnership with the Utah Warriors, which paved the way for a vertically aligned rugby development program catering to players from U12 through high school.
Robbins' vision for PNRFU embodies her dedication to the sport, emphasizing vertically aligned essential skills across development age grades. This approach will be realized through strategic partnerships between each age grade union, culminating in collaboration with the new Seawolves and PNW Rugby partnership. This vision mirrors her successful initiatives in Eastern WA.
PNW Rugby is confident that with Robbins at the helm of coaching, the union is poised for new horizons in rugby development, training, and success.
