Ribbon Cutting at the new Bell Family Shelter
The bells rang loudly and proudly in York City as we celebrated the Ribbon Cutting of the new Bell Family Shelter! It was a beautiful and momentous occasion, and we were thrilled to share it with all of you. Thank you to everyone who joined us in ringing in this incredible new chapter. With our new space, we can now assist double the number of families on their journey to regaining independent living. This dream has come to fruition, and we couldn't be more excited for the future! Last Wednesday, the Bell's Big Bed Race First Place Team rolling plaque was passed to Kevin Hubbell, team captain for the QB Rockstars. The team of employees of Quality Builders, Lancaster were first place winners of the 2023 event, held in the Royal Square District of York City in April. The QB team may now display the plaque proudly until the next Bed Race when they'll have a chance to defend their first-place status. Mark your calendar now to participate and/or attend the next Bell's Big Bed Race; the event is slated for Saturday, April 13, 2024! Presenting the plaque is Teri Johnescu, chair of the Bed Race Committee. Note: this is the third time Kevin has captained a winning team for the Bed Race. Previously, he led teams representing Royal Square Development & Construction (RSDC).

How Your Adopt-a-Day Gift Reaches the Families at Bell Family Shelter
Today is officially the last day of our Bell Family Shelter Adopt-a-Day campaign and we still have a bit to go to reach our two goals. In the video, Marcella, the Director of Shelter Services, talks about how your Adopt-a-Day gift supports the families at Bell Family Shelter. Marcella, at the Adopt-a-Day breakfast, said, "Your dollars go so far, and they really do help us to touch and change lives. I guess after thirty years [working for Bell] that is what I love so much about developing the Shelter. It does take this village for us to be successful. We don't like to talk about where we got to cut or what services we need to limit for our families. We want to be a presence, to have enough staff, to be a safe environment. We are going to do what we need to do to keep operating, keep serving, and keep changing lives one day at a time." Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. Congratulations to CommunityAid for receiving the 2021 Margo Atwood Award! This past year, Community Aid York selected Bell as their third quarter RoundUp Program beneficiary and we recently learned that $7,083.26 was raised in the months of July, August, and September by customers rounding up their purchases to support Bell! Community Aid York was nominated for an annual award for the way their leadership team and store associates pulled together for Bell, showing a true desire to learn more about our programs and services, and encouraging their customers to be a part of supporting Bell.
