Parenthood in Bloom

The past few weeks have been very heavy over here (good and bad, just A LOT in sum). After some consideration, I wanted to give a heads up that I will be taking some time away from my phone and social media, so you can expect delays in communication. This is a relatively short hiatus, and does not affect any scheduled appointments or upcoming consultations. I’ll still be “around,” just slower to respond.

Away message: Unplug. Ground. Practice gratitude. Whatever you do, stop putting yourself last. This time of year is always so charged no matter what sector you’re in and it is incredibly important that we take time to care for ourselves.

The topic of when a child should be switched to forward facing in their car seat is often a hot topic, riddled with misinformation

Fact is: a child only HAS to be switched to forward facing in their car seat when they reach the weight or height of the rear facing limits of their car seat.

In a perfect world, we would max out the limits of each stage of a childs car seat before transitioning to the next position. This is considered best practice. However, in reality, there are many circumstances that may force, or result in a family choosing, to transition their child sooner.

Meeting with a CPST (Child Passenger Safety Technician) can be a great way to ensure your child is riding safely and getting the most use out of their car seat. A CPST can also help you problem solve tricky vehicle situations, suggest car seats for your family unit & goals, and provide education on car seat safety.
