Picking out plants for the front of the ranch that - hopefully - won’t be a salad for all of our various desert creatures…
New front door light & new number
Allelon has been working hard at the ranch… Repaint the Ranch phase 1 complete (fascia board next) What difference a little paint makes.
Bathroom is done - we are pleased - it still feels “vintage” but pretty & new at the same time!
Still trying to decide on flooring for the ranch… we keep changing our minds. This is the latest. Our thought is that we want something to warm up the house temperature wise as well as aesthetically (the polished concrete feels too “cold” for the desert).
So the new mid century modern, starburst, replica bathroom hardware came and it’s FAB!!! We got a toilet paper holder, hand towel holder and 2 towel hooks.
Finished bathroom pics. New tub, hardware, tile, sink, toilet, framing YAY! Next up… master bedroom, living/dining & kitchen floors. Once we complete that a buy a new stove the inside will be completely done, and we can start working on the outside…
DAY 14: Finally done! Just need to do the minor finishing items (take down the old cabinet, sand & paint walls, hang mirror/curtain rod/towel holders.
DAY 13: Almost there - just grout, shower faucets, k***s, grab bar and clean up work - should be done tomorrow! Then Al and I need to pull down the old cabinet, do wall work & paint. Excited for these fun vintage, starburst style, towel hooks, hand towel & toilet roll holder we are going to add!
DAY 12: Closer… almost there - just the shelf tile, hardware, grab bar and grout left! Still need to order new cabinet, shower curtain/rug/towels, mirror, towel hooks/hand towel holder & toilet paper holder. So excited to be done with this!
DAY 11: just a little tile left to go in, grout, hardware, floating sink & cabinet. Yay!!!
DAY 9: Trim added around new door & drywall repaired. Lots of tile work done as well - eagerly awaiting tile photos…
Day 7 (maybe 8😂?): Insert created and tile going in shower & floor.
DAY 6: Finally have a new working door to my office (no more bathroom zoom drive by accidents😂) & the lounge/guest bedroom. Just needs the trim and finishing!
DAY 5: JT bathroom Reno updates…
Sooooo the other day before Allelon left he noticed the tub looked a little low AND yup - they had put in the wrong size tub 😂 - thankfully they hadn’t gotten too far along and purchased the correct tub and replaced it. So they pulled out the old (new) tub and replaced it with the new (correct height) tub 😂 this was as of yesterday… much further along! Can almost see a tiny bit of the finish line!
DAY 4: New pipes and framing happening today. Plus fun new shower head and handheld shower head attachment.
DAY3: doesn’t seem like much but pipe and framing work…
DAY 2: Floor tile, sink and toilet have been removed AND new tub is in the room!
DAY 1: So it’s been a minute - but we are back at it - the renovation of our bathroom has begun! Bye bye tiny toilet, diminutive sink, leaky tub and 60’s orange linoleum tile. Taking her out of the 60’s and into the 2000’s! Can’t wait to see how this progresses!
We switched out the smaller copper pulls on all of the cabinet doors for matching larger pulls (w/ 2 holes) and left the smaller on the drawers… think it looks better and stopped the “spinning” issues we were having 😂
Was out at the Ranch for the past week. Al painted my wicker headboard to match our teal color theme we have going on at the house. It really pops against the white wall and with the artwork in the bedroom!
Working on the Ranch outdoor paint color (looking at Benjamin Moore Iron Ore) “wood” panels and the front of the house outside design… here’s our inspiration pics.
It’s amazing how just the replacing faucets helps our vintage sinks look civilized 😂. I’m so bummed we didn’t take video of Al replacing the kitchen faucet because it was a 2.5 day pain in the butt. Needed 3/8-1/2 inch adapters that - of course Home Depot was out of.
Vision board - baby steps...
Finally - new bedside lights... from these work lights 😂 to these beautiful brass, mid-century style globes!
How can I get paid to “pin” all day long 😆 - here’s our JT Pinterest inspo board https://pin.it/62dCzxm
Picked up a few new things for our master bedroom, a wicker headboard (Al’s not a wicker fan but is willing to give it a go 🤣), chenille comforter set & bed side vintage style globe sconces.
Al found these cute mid Century pieces for the brick shelves behind our wood burning stove...
Back at the ranch... after our first rental - thanks for the cutting boards, card and wine!
They way to end the day... well deserved after all of Allelon’s hard work!
Allelon finished all the painting in the kitchen and the cabinets. We love the results! The copper really pops on the Behr Black Sapphire bottoms!
Al finished up the blue on the lower kitchen cabinets it took 3 coats 😂 tomorrow he will paint the backs of the doors and put all the hardware back on! Looking forward to seeing it all come together. Can’t wait to start the installation of the new floors next and new tile in the bathroom shower!
Allelon has done a great job in the kitchen! From refinishing the copper hinges (removing years worth of paint and grime) to getting rid of the ugly lime green/yellow & blue paint, changing the “boob” lamp to a Sputnik and adding my new copper pulls. The uppers look amazing - can’t wait to see the lowers!
Al’s Kitchen Diaries: Second coat of white paint is up and the cabinet faces are primed. Tomorrow the lower cabinets will get their blue coat and the hardware will go back on - so excited to see the results Allelon!
Yesterday’s primer progress... looking forward to see where Allelon gets to today!
This weeks project - painting the kitchen walls & upper cabinets a bright white, the lower cabinets blue, putting the refinished copper hinges and the new copper pulls on. And so it begins...
Al explains how to clean years worth of paint off of your cabinet hardware - it works so well and is great if you’re trying to salvage vintage pieces.
The Black room (guest room/lounge) is for the most part done! Still need to refinish the bar & repaint peacock chair, move the armoire & video games in and get the cord covers to hide all the cords.
