September's theme is PEOPLE at Watercolor Workshop in Yucca Valley. Pulling inspiration from workshops I have taken and photos I wanted to paint from, we jumped right in! These workshops are held at the Center for Healthy Generations on Friday mornings and the Yucca Valley Community Center on Thursday afternoons. We have two more sessions until October when I change up the theme :-)

Please watch for cancellations - September is uncertain - I might have a couple workshop cancellations, I might not!

Heavy desert... Atmospheric watercolors and we are still on the subject into September!

3rd Saturday Art Walk is THIS Saturday, August 17! Check out all those wonderful galleries and local shops while enjoying a nice summer evening around Ol' Town Yucca Valley and Pioneertown :)

August watercolor subject - atmospheric - mist, clouds, rain, moody scenes. A change to my schedule allows me to hold watercolor workshop during the last three weeks in August, unbroken, at the Yucca Valley Community Center! If you have a Thursday afternoon free, join us on August 15, 22, and/or 29 for watercolor atmospheric scenes at the Yucca Valley Community Center.

For Health Generations, we are on the same track, but there still will not be a workshop on August 23.

Painting again, after being off for a few weeks, was exciting! The subject of focus upon return is atmospheric scenes - clouds, rain, and especially mist. But our August and September schedules are broken up a bit, so keep on the lookout....

NO class next week (August 8th/9th) at either location.

We return on August 15th/16th, and hopefully have three sessions uninterrupted at Yucca Valley community Center until September!

Vibrant Scenes has been the subject in June here at Watercolor Workshop. This balloon lighting at twilight has been especially fun and it isn't finished yet!

We have ONE more session held at the Center for Healthy Generations tomorrow June 28 to finish off this subject before we take a three week hiatus. Summer time is getting busy for everyone with travel plans, events, projects, and between work travel and a conference in the upcoming weeks, I too must take a break from the workshop.

One more set of 'vibrant scenes' workshops this month, Thursday (27th) at the Yucca Community Center and Friday (28th) at the Center for Healthy Generations. This is an in-progress vibrant scene of a twilight balloon lighting down at the Salton Sea!

Reminder - there is NO watercolor workshop tomorrow - Thursday, June 13 at the Yucca Valley Community Center.

The topic is VIBRANT SCENES for the entire month and we still have two Thursday sessions ahead of us hosted at the Community Center and three Friday sessions hosted at Healthy Generations.

Throughout the month of JUNE, we are focusing on Vibrant Scenes—bold and colorful creations. Through practice, we’ll learn to use our individual supplies to achieve fresh and bright colors, avoiding overworked scenes. Our goal is to ensure everyone has fun with each experience.

NO workshop at the Community Center on Thursday, June 13.

NO workshop at Healthy Generations on Friday, June 7. The Center is busy preparing for the weekend Plant & Yard Sale, and they already have many cool items coming in. Be sure to stop by and pick up some goodies for YOUR outdoor lounge space!

Night Skies - one of my all time favorite subjects to 'attempt' using watercolors. Why? To be honest, because of the inherent unpredictability of the medium when using an abundance of paint, water, and salt (which alters drying time around each crystal.) Hopefully you will join us starting again on May 8/9 for a month of night sky scenes.

NO WORKSHOPS scheduled for April 25/26 and May 2/3. We will resume our sessions starting on May 9/10. The upcoming focus will be on night skies!

You will be encouraged to paint boldly using a wet in wet technique. Be ready to work multiple backgrounds, work with salt, play with masking, and use white paint splattered using stiff brushes.

Alternatively, feel free to join us with any questions or challenges you're facing in your own watercolor painting journey. Our aim is to have an enjoyable time exploring watercolor together during these sessions.

Watercolor Workshops are offered weekly in Yucca Valley at two locations, hosted by Chaparral Artists member, Raini Armstrong. This workshop environment hopes to encourage watercolor discovery, experimentation, and stress-free fun. Wet-in-wet, messy, bold creations are encouraged. Let's enjoy this medium together at the Yucca Valley Community Center on Thursdays and the Center for Healthy Generations on Fridays
