You just had to be there

Peace family! Quick story time: in 2015 my label at the time Funk Volume sighed a distribution deal with Warner. We saw this as a opportunity to expand the music and put more eyes on our independent accomplishments. The first project I delivered to the table was this would eventually end up being my last album on the label. Although I never got to build on the energy we build because everything got dismantled. I also had to learn the hard way that at the time I just simply wasn’t ready to be in the spotlight. Not because I was talented enough but because I didn’t have the energy to care about the things that were maybe working against me. 8 years later after the day I dropped my album I have no regrets! It all needed to happen exactly the way it played out. I want to remind whoever reading this that the most precious thing that you have is your heart and if you let it guide you I promise you will find your way. Lame I know but very true, it took me along time to embrace the man I am today but the learning curve was realizing that we’re all born with that spotlight shinning on us. Embrace what that means for you! This picture represents a true growing process. I’m still rooting for all of you - Diz
