A natural process for a new day

Answer
The diagram illustrates the stages that a flowering plant goes through in its life cycle.

In general, the cycle is a natural, cyclical process with three main stages, including the seed's transformation, maturing and flowering.

The process commences when a mature seed from a tree is planted in the soil, during which time water is added to stimulate germination. Roots appear in this phase, and after this, the sprout with its very first leaves make their appearance. It takes one week for this young plant to grow and become mature.

Following this stage, the leaves become bigger in size and the plant starts to seedle. As they mature, bubs emerge on the plant. After three days, they change into flowers. The flowers remain on the plant for some time before their color turns darker. This is also the time when new seeds are formed, mature, and then put in the ground. The whole cycle is then likewise repeated. (157 words)

Bar chart practice

Key points
Similar numbers + highest TV, lowest boarding/skating
Similar for bike, games + art
Bike similar games + double art

Answer
The bar chart shows the percentages of teenage participation in 5 different types of entertainment in Australia.

Generally, both genders have a similar overall participation rate, with watching TV/videos being the most popular and boarding and skating games attracting the fewest players.

In detail, all young children in the survey take part in TV/videos viewing with the percentages registered at 100%. This figure is more or less triple that of snowboarding/ roller-skating, standing at just under 40% and 30% for boys and girls respectively.

For other activities, bike-riding, electronic computer games, and art and craft appeal to similar proportions of girls at around 60%. Slightly fewer male children are attracted to the first pastime activity in this subgroup than to the second type, with around 70% and close to 80%. By comparison, the least favourite of all among boys is art and craft, with the data recorded at about half of that for computer games at about 40%. (160 words)

Line graph
Anh em làm thử nhé

Sample:
The line graph details the proportion of audience of four means of obtaining news alongside predicted figures to 2025 in a country. Overall, the internet has shown an upward trend, becoming the predominant way to gain news, while traditional methods have become less popular. In addition, the TV has remained people's favorite for almost the whole period.

In detail, starting the period in the lowest position at almost 0%, the percentage of internet users for accessing news saw a slight increase to 2000. It has then rocketed consistently to 2025, and is forecast to reach about 55%, surpassing the figure for the TV audience to lead the chart.

In contrast, despite remaining at its highest status almost throughout the period, TV viewership has o served a considerable drop, going down from just under 70% in 1995 to the second place at just over 50% in 2025. Also experiencing falls have been the figures for newspapers and radio audiences, albeit at more noticeable degrees. Both have witnessed a fall of around 30 points, but newspapers have still been preferable to the radio in 2025, with around 35% and just over 30% respectively.

Task 1:The graph below shows different sources of air pollutants in the UK from 1990 to 2005.

Task 2: Some people think technology development decreases crime, while others believe it actually encourages crimes. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

06/03/2022

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic
Increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve growing traffic and pollution problems.
To what extent do you agree or disagree? What other measures do you think might be effective?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Write at least 250 words.

Answer
In contemporary society, traffic congestion and pollution go hand in hand with the increased use of petrol, and therefore there has been a claim that pushing up its price is the most effective way of dealing with these problems. I disagree with this suggestion and strongly believe that there are more problems arising from this action and there are alternatives to this solution.
Some people believe that increased petrol prices will prompt people to use less or even leave behind their private means of transport, resulting in a better environment and traffic. However, when prices of fuel go up, both individuals and businesses will suffer. Firstly, in Vietnam, many people rely on their motorbikes to commute to work or school. Some may spend much of their day on their vehicles traveling from place to place as it is their means of livelihood. Therefore, petrol price hikes only stretch their budget, adversely affecting other life necessities. Secondly, many businesses, especially those in the shipping industry, operate mostly on this power source. Increased prices would mean increased charges for their services if they want to make a profit, which could lead to a drop in consumption and then profits. Therefore, rather than improve the current situation, it breeds more serious problems.
In my view, however, making fuel more expensive is far from the most efficient way to deal with the problems of traffic and pollution. One possibility to tackle both traffic congestion and pollution, especially in mega cities like Ho Chi Minh City, is the introduction of a car-free or motorbike-free policy in the city centre. This can be combined with a park-and-ride scheme to promote mobility for passengers. In this initiative, motorbike- or car-drivers can leave their vehicles outside the centre and use bikes to ride to their offices. Although this may cause some resistance by inhabitants both in the city and outside the city at first given its inconveniences, I believe that this will bring about positive results in the long run.
In conclusion, petrol price increases cannot solve either the problem of traffic congestion or pollution. In fact, I will give rise to a good number of other societal issues. To alleviate the problems mentioned, encouraging people to reduce private vehicle journeys and ride bicycles in the city centre will be more effective. (385 words)
