A British BL 18-inch Mk 1 naval gun installed at the Imperial War Museum in Crystal Palace, London. This gun is probably a wooden mock-up, but the real thing weighed 150 tons. It is the largest British naval gun ever made, and the second largest ever, with only Japan"s later 18.1 inch guns surpassing it. The guns were designed for HMS Furious, but were later installed on monitors. One of these bagged the record for the longest range Royal Naval engagement when it fired on German positions in land 33,000 meters away during WWI.

The side of a Tiger I turret after an assortment of 6 and 17-pdr shots during British firing trials in early 1945. This tank, turret number 334, was captured during the Battle of Normandy and sent back to the UK for testing. During these trials, the Tiger received hits from a wide variety of weapons, including the previously mentioned two, a 75 mm, PIAT, anti-tank mines, .303 and 20 mm. As usual, the tank ended up smoldering, bent and buckled, but it certainly took quite a beating. Check the link for a deep dive into this particular trial and a breakdown of the hits it received.

The Historic Moment King Tut"s Tomb Was Discovered. the tomb of Tutankhamun was discovered in 1922, it caused a sensation. The nearly intact tomb was a time capsule waiting to be explored, allowing scholars to gain vital information about life and death in ancient Egypt. When British Egyptologist Howard Carter stumbled upon the tomb in the Valley of the Kings, no one could have known what riches awaited them inside. Luckily, photographer Harry Burton was on hand, documenting the excavation of King Tut"s tomb for eight years. These incredible images, which have been colorized by Dynamichrome, give an unparalleled overview of the excavation. The photographs are a complement to Carter"s diaries and journals, where he recorded his impressions throughout the excavation.
