FRANCE’S TAX HYPOCRACY.

The French Ambassador to Vanuatu, Pierre Fournier, in an attempt to deflect France’s placing of Vanuatu on their Blacklist by blaming the EU, can hardly claim the French Tax System is one to follow.
Of the 35 OECD Countries ranked in International Competitiveness, France sits firmly at the bottom of the rankings at number 35. Their International Tax Rules Rank is 24 out of 35, their Corporate Tax Ranking and their Individual Tax Ranking is 34 out of 35, overall the worst ranking by far, and hardly an example of a Tax System that Vanuatu would want to follow.
While smart Country’s are realising that Competitive, easy to administer tax systems are positive for an economy, France has significantly increased marginal tax rates on work, saving and investment. They recently instituted a Corporate Income Surtax in a failed attempt to tax their way to prosperity and wealth, but inevitably dragging the Country into further debt.
The French debt, according to calculations from Bloomberg, at the end of 2018, stands at 2.31 Trillion Euro, with a debt ratio of 98.4% to GDP. This does not include pension obligations and State Owned Enterprises debt. Hard to get your head around, but it has been explained if their debt were in dollar bills laid end to end they would extend around the world 10,771 times. Tax paying millionaires are leaving the Country in droves, reportedly over 12,000 alone in 2018, as a large portion of the Country’s revenue goes into servicing their debt, rather than providing public services like transport, (when they are not on strike).
France would be better off focusing on providing relief to their own Tax Payers, rather than undermining the Independence of a tiny Nation by demanding we follow their clumsy and complicated tax systems.

A MESSAGE TO ALL POLITICAL CANDIDATES FROM AN INVESTOR IN VANUATU.

This upcoming Election you will be given the opportunity to announce to Voters your position on the introduction of an Income Tax and a Corporate Tax for Vanuatu.
This is important. Our Nations Prosperity is largely determined by its Tax Codes.
The Outsiders who promote these additional Taxes on the people of Vanuatu care nothing for the Economic consequences to our Nation.
As such they violate our Nations hard fought Independence.
If you believe that the people of Vanuatu should be free to produce and enjoy the fruits of their work then sign the Candidates No Income Tax integrity Pledge, and make voters aware of your position.
