This morning had temps in the teens and winds in the teens, which made for a cold time spent at PHL. But anytime at the park is a good time, and this morning was no exception. The best, and I mean the absolute best part of it all was seeing Scorpius rising in the dawn hour, meaning Milky Way season is just around the corner!

This week it's that time of the year when you get to simply lay back and stare at the sky, cooling off your summer evenings as the classic Perseids Meteor shower washes over your senses. It is said that this year, we will be witnessing the highest numbers of meteors, especially when the moon won't be in the way. Find a good spot, grab a bite, sip on your favourite drink, get comfortable, and get lost in some space magic.

The event takes place at the Golf Bistro deck from 9 pm to 1 am on the night of August 11th, Wednesday! Let's enjoy the marvellous sky together from this stunning Adriatic location and soak the stellar performance above us!

Pridružite nam se da ispratimo zajedno kišu meteora na jedinstvenoj lokaciji našeg poligona za golf!

Ove nedelje ćemo imati priliku da budemo svjedoci najveće kiše meteora i da uživamo zagledani u nebo, dok nam meteorski tuš suza Svetog Lovre preplavljuje čula. Smjestite se udodno, naričite svoje omiljeno piće, i utonite u svemirsku čaroliju.

Događaj se održava na Bistrou golf poligona od 21.00 h do 01.00 h u noći 11. avgusta. Uživajmo zajedno u čudesnom nebu sa ove fenomenalne jadranske lokacije dok upijamo zvjezdane performanse iznad nas!

Michigan Lighthouse Tour
Middle Island Lighthouse
The shoals of Middle Island near the shores are gorgeous for snorkelers but they do present quite a challenge and danger to boaters who get too close.
HISTORIC TIDBIT
Although Thunder Bay Island and Presque Isle Harbor locations were among the very first Michigan lighthouses established, a midpoint light was needed by the turn of the century. Congress approved the funds in 1903 which was the same year that Wilbur and Orville Wright flew the world's first practical airplane. The light was lit on June 1, 1905.
The appearance of the tower has changed over the decades. Originally the tower was a natural buff color. The tower was painted white with a black band in the 1950’s to enhance it’s identification during the daytime and again changed in the 1970’s to its current color white with a red-orange band.
Volunteers from the Middle Island Lighthouse Keepers Association, Inc. had been maintaining and caring for the tower for decades and the group was finally awarded ownership in 2011. The association has since disbanded. We welcome anyone with information regarding the current state of the lighthouse to please comment or contact us.

The lighthouse, Þrídrangaviti (Iceland), is located in the Westman Islands and is located around six miles from the shore. It's quite possibly the most isolated lighthouse in the world and is precariously perched on top of a rock pillar with the wild waves of the cold North Atlantic ocean raging below.The whitewashed lighthouse is perched atop the tallest of the rocky cliffs, which stretches an impressive 120 feet upward. Il celebre pittore Monet sosteneva che, dipingendo lo stesso soggetto in momenti diversi della giornata, con la luce del mattino, del pomeriggio o anche la sera, il dipinto appariva sempre diverso. Ecco, senza alcuna pretesa, proponiamo nuovamente il faro sito sullo scoglio mangiabarche con un'altra luce, con altri colori. Sempre mozzafiato! 🤩❤️

I traveled Northeast to the of to photograph the beautiful . When I arrived there was a very strong surf, causing the dramatic green and white swirls against the . As you can (hahaha forgive the pun), the public can’t get over to the lighthouse unless you want to take a swim, so I am pleased to share pictures from angles that you would never be able to see from the !
