They say dogs are mans best friend and those of us who love dogs would likely agree. Best friends are those who stick with you through the good times when all is rolling along smoothly and they are there when everything goes horribly wrong. As our friend shares about his friend Dario, the reality of this life struggle paralleled by his life of mushing is a beautiful depiction of what it means to be rescued from circumstance through a loving relationships and the therapeutic freedom of being in the wilderness. Take a look at Dario's story and please share it with those who may be going through a tough time. Like a musher says to his dogs when everything goes wrong in the middle of nowhere, "we're all in this together friends. Let's get out this together."

This weeks "Meet The Team" team member is one we are excited to share! Say hello to (Andrea) our team Content Marketing Manager and whiz with everything design. We stole Andrea from her previous company where she was in charge making digital and print advertising for large companies, many of which you see on a regular basis and operate on a worldwide level. She is not only skilled at creating, editing, and consulting the content that Alaskan Hand Made puts out, but she keeps the ship organized and our founder in line. In this small startup world, there are tons of challenges. One that takes not only skill but knowledge is the world of content. We stole this weeks duty for Instagram posts from her to give her the limelight and say, THANK YOU ANDREA! We are glad to have you on the team.
*Note from the founder, "we are fortunate to have Andrea. I don't know if this project would work without her. The world sees only a smidgen of the work for the smallest percentage of credit. You are a value to this community. Thanks for everything you do my friend." -Tyler W.

Many people don't realize that Alaska has buffalo but Look! Da Buffalo! Phot brought To you by our team media director
President Franklin D. Roosevelt: "Yesterday, December 7, 1941—a date which will live in infamy—the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked"
We look back on this day, today, 74 years ago, with a heart of sadness for the loss of so many lives and a spark that triggered the involvement of the United States into one of the largest scale wars of history. This day, we are reminded of the unity of loss, the resolve of mind that stands up to attack, and the thanks to those who were (and are) willing to pick up a bloody and weighty torch to defend and die for freedom, independence, and liberty for others. Today, we at Alaskan Hand Made want to thank the families of those who fought in World War II. As a military community here in Anchorage, Our drinks are held high and our hearts filled with gratitude for brave men and women who call themselves Service Members. It's a service many undertake while many more never know. Veterans, we love you. #1941

Thank you Steph for all your hard work and for being part of the Alaskan Hand Made story! #
When you live in a place like anchorage Alaska, you are reminded of how close the wild is, from the tamed wilderness of concrete and cars. However, the saying is true that Anchorage is 15 minutes from Alaska. So if you ever get the itch to explore, it's only a hop skip and a puddle jump away. Never stop exploring friends. And never be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone. made

Did you know that our bags tell the story of Alaska? Each piece of our product represents a different industry here in the Great North.
Alaskan famous first statement to the world was the presence of gold. The Alaskan Gold rush started August 16, 1896 at Bonanza Creek and it ran for only a few years at its peak. It drew almost 100,000 miners to the untouched wilderness and river systems of Alaska. Many lost their lives looking to strike it rich.
Our burlap is the reminiscent representation of this era and incredible history of Alaska. Much of our identity as a state is thanks to the adventurous and whimsical draw of this rare earth metal. And Alaskan Hand Mades burlap bags are test image to this rich history.
Friends, we want to introduce you to Alaskan Hand Made team member Bae-Lee. To answer your curiosity, that is her legal name and she is the one who made it "A Thing" Bae-Lee is a multifaceted individual with a collection of skills. She is our bag master here and is responsible for the signature stone bags that you see. Before Alaskan Hand Made, Bae-Lee was busy working as a chef and is hoping to one day open her own Gourmet food truck here in town. As a mother of three and a beautiful Alaskan Malemute puppy and a wife to a hard working slope worker, Bae-Lee is a beautiful representation of the hard working Alaskan woman. Being a southern girl, she is bringing the spice and sweetness of the south to Alaska. But while we hope her to open her doors... Or Windows, soon, we are glad she has joined our team to make the famous rustic burlap bags. Thanks for being our bag bae, Bae-Lee!

When visiting Alaska, there are many ways to get around. One of our most leisurely forms of transportation is the train. The only form of travel that you can drink your favorite scotch and still get to your destination. From the beautiful wild woods of Denali to the sea sprayed port of Seward train will get you there. So grab your set of Glacier Whiskey Stones, kick back, and enjoy this Alaskan winter.

Gradually learning to appreciate the moments in life which often get overlooked. My day was wonderfully spent outside, and with the people I love most in this world. Smiles and red noses. Can't be beat.
The beauty and grandure of the Alaskan experience is shown perfectly here by our friends The seasons may change but the job remind the same; transport people and equipment across some of the most beautiful country in the world.
