My name is Edward Ernest Kutingala.

Like the families comprising Ekenywa Village in the Arumeru District of Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa, I am a Maasai. Virtually all of the Maasai from my area are nomadic herdsmen who cannot afford to educate their children. In my village, most adults have not been schooled past the sixth grade and many have received no schooling. It is my dream, and that of my friends and relatives, particularly

Dear grade seven boys and girls,

We are glad we were your teachers. We have come to love you so we can't believe the end is here. We hate to see you go! Remember all the fun we had and all the things we did, but most of all remember you are very special kids.

Dear Parents,

We give you back your child, the same child you confidently entrusted to our care eight years ago. We give them back to you kilograms heavier, inches taller, years wiser, more responsible, and more mature than they were then.

Although they would have attained their growth in spite of us, it has been our pleasure and privilege to watch their personalities unfold day by day. We give them back reluctantly, for having spent eight years together in the narrow confines of crowded classrooms, we have grown closer, have become a part of each other, and we shall always retain a little of each other.

Ten years from now if we meet on the street, your child and I, a light will shine to our eyes, a smile to our faces, and we shall feel the bond of understanding once more, this bond we feel today.

We have lived, loved, laughed, played, studied, learned, and enriched our lives for these eight years. We wish it could go indefinitely, but give them back we must. Take care of them for they are precious.

Remember that I shall always be interested in your children and their destiny, wherever they go, whatever they do, whoever they become. Their joys and sorrows I will always be happy to share.

It is with great sadness that yesterday we layed Queen Daniel Losivu. On her final resting place. Queen Daniel Losivu,a long-time student and almost a daughter to me, joined Maasai Joy Children Center in nursery class in the year 2003 and completed her primary education in the year 2021 after which she joined a special school secondary school. From the classroom where we shared many lessons and worked on projects together, to our passionate discussions about her future careers to - her devotion towards studies and my love and concern for her future- our bond was strong.

Queen’s journey took her from Arusha to Musoma, while I remained in Arusha managing the school. Queen's dedication to her studies was profound; she not only invested her time, energy and resources, but she poured her soul into her studies, bringing herself, donors, sponsor and school great success and shaping a legacy that all of us will remember forever.

Today, I mourn the girl who was a fierce competitor, a daughter, and a generous spirit. Queen spent abundantly on the things she believed in, and her impact on those around her was truly immeasurable. As we pray for her soul to find eternal peace, we also send our deepest condolences to her family—his mother, father sister, Mr. Paul Meaney, - her sponsor and donor, and fellow students. She loved them immensely, and I know they felt that love every single day.

Queen, your departure leaves a void in our hearts, but we are comforted by the memories and the profound impact you’ve left behind. As we say in Kiswahili, “Nyinyi, mmetangulia na sisi tupo nyuma yenu”—You have gone ahead, and we are right behind you.

Rest in peace, my student and daughter. You will forever be missed but never forgotten.

GRADE SEVEN UPDATE!

It's our great Joy to extend our sincere appreciation to all Sponsors, Friends and Parents of the seventh grade 2022. On behalf of the school management I would like to thank you all for paying their school fees which enabled lots of operations to take place academically and in other school areas. These students were enrolled to kindergarten in 2012 so have spent 10 years of elementary school course.
Ladies and gentle men, Let's put our hands together to wish the seventh grades good luck in their final national exams which has kicked off from today 5th October to 6th October 2022. These two days are very significant for them as it remarks the school ranking position nationally, regionally, districtly and ward-wise. The students are so we'll organized with positive moods and confidence to conquer the highest scores than last year 2021 in which we had attained the 7th position nationally the 1st position over all regions and 1st position in Arusha district and 1st position in the ward. So our focus for this academic year is to attain higher position nationally.
When the exams are done, The 9th graduation ceremony will take place on 15th October 2022.
Our fingers crossed for the best.
Ernest
