High Sheriff of East Sussex

Wonderful to meet a fellow former Hasbro toy industry colleague Alison Berry in Eastbourne, now working for CAP - Christians Against Poverty UK. Along with some of her South Region colleagues doing amazing work at the Eastbourne CAP Debt Centre (based at Victoria Baptist Church) and committed to transforming lives and working to end poverty locally. As you can imagine the needs for their services is ever increasing, so do support them in any way you can.

Great evening at Eastbourne Fire Station visiting my High Sheriff’s Fire Cadet Simon and his Eastbourne Fire Cadet Unit in action: drills, ladder control, hose running and throwing lines. So proud of these cadets East Sussex Fire and Rescue

Following High Sheriff of East Sussex’s Judges’ Service we had a Reception at the wonderful new AgriFood Centre at Plumpton College with HM Lord-Lieutenant of East Sussex & Mayor of Lewes, High Sheriff of West Sussex and Plumpton Principal Jeremy Kerswell, High Sheriff's Police & Fire Cadets and Police Cadet unit leader PC Jodi Sullivan, CEO of Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner Mark Streater, Revd Lucy Hollingsworth and many others!

Great visit to Eastbourne Community Fire Station today, meeting Blue Watch crew, Community Safety and Protection teams. Learnt so much about what East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service do, much in partnership with others, providing fire safety and other prevention advice to anyone who will listen; as well as dealing with emergencies. If you get a chance, do visit and support your local Fire Station. We are fortunate to have such committed firefighters and staff, volunteers and fire cadets. Thanks for a great visit! Great visit to wonderful charity Little Gate Farm which helps people with learning disabilities and autism into paid work. Mary Soul explained all the different skills they are taught and my Chaplain and I also heard from Dan how they teach trainees to produce charcoal (for sale locally), work wood and manage their extensive woodland.
To raise funds they also hire out their rustic Barn and grounds - the most perfect setting for any event. Pleased to be able to meet and congratulate Cllr Vikki Cook as the new Chair of Rother District Council, on the steps of Bexhill Town Hall with Mrs Rachel Bickersteth.

Great pleasure meeting Chief Fire Officer Dawn Whittaker and DCFO David Norris of East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, and hearing about the amazing work done by our firefighters, staff and volunteers. Then enjoyed touring Lewes Fire Station, meeting Station Manager David Washington and Watch Manager Darren Foord who showed me the different fire vehicles and equipment used on a shout. We are indebted to their commitment and courage and meanwhile pray we do not need to call upon them... but they are there and prepared when we do need them. Thank you!

My first duty as High Sheriff was to attend the Police Cadet Awards Ceremony; what an honour to see such well turned out young cadets along with their proud leaders. Also very proud of my own High Sheriff's Police Cadets Wadey and Cleal.
