Water break in Louisbourg

UPDATE: 1:30PM Jan 3: The repair on Kent Street is complete and water is officially back on in Louisbourg. It may take a day for the system to normalize. Air in taps and discoloration may persist.

UPDATE: 10:00 PM Jan 2: The leak is now isolated and being repaired on Kent Street. Residents in the immediate area will have no water until the leak is repaired. The remainder of town will potentially experience low pressure, discoloration and air entrainment while the system returns to normal operating conditions. Timeline for repair is noon on Wednesday.

A water main break is affecting water supply in Louisbourg tonight. Crews are on site. More info to come as the repair progresses. Residents are asked to conserve water and use as little as possible to help the system maintain positive pressure.

Gary O'Neil stopped by the Cape Breton Cancer Centre to present an annual fundraising total in support of the Tom McNeil Cancer Patient Care Fund.

Hosting the annual Ronnie O'Neil Memorial Ball Tournament, Gary and the crew raised $9,000! These funds will directly support 60-75 Cape Bretoners battling cancer each month, allowing them to focus on their health, rather than their finances.

With this year's total, this incredible group is just shy of reaching a major milestone of $100,000 raised.

The weather outside is frightful, but the FUDGE is so delightful 🧑‍🍳🍫 Tomorrow is the BIG day, our first annual Louisbourg Fudge Off!!!!!

Here is tomorrows schedule:

- Taste & Judge the Fudge: 12-3 (come early, Louisbourg will be packed / lots of traffic with the Christmas Parade)
- Judges panel will taste & vote on Cape Breton Islands BEST fudge (grand prize winner!!!) 🏆 at 4:00pm & the shop is open until 5:00.
- We will have special guests in the shop from 12-5, the owners of Village People Coffee Roasters in Baddeck. They’ll be here serving delicious hot coffee & selling bags of coffee ☕️
- The Christmas Parade starts at 2:30pm
- Join festivities after the parade at the Louisbourg Fire Hall, they’ll have goodies &. Popup market!!!

A few notes:
- Remember to dress warm, wearing layers can be a good idea.
- Come hungry!
- We have coffee & fudge☕️
- Feel free to leave a donation at Canapa Candle for the Angel Tree at The Louisbourg Legion. The Angel Tree works like adopt a family, the money donated tomorrow at our event will be used to help support those in need during the holiday season through the Angel Tree 🎄
