Vi diamo allora appuntamento alle 21.00 per il Gran Premio del Portogallo, non mancate!
2016 brings an exciting challenge for Thrustmaster Twister Racing, with a huge amount of expectation following last years domination of both the ACE and World Championship categories, with 10 World Championship victories in total, most notably at the Red Bull Ring where all four Twister drivers finished line astern in the front four spots, not to mention a full podium at Sepang, as well as 2FAST4YOU having three 1-2 finishes over the season.
We are delighted to continue our partnership, and develop the relationship with Thrustmaster, who have been crucial to the success that we have had last year and we are proud to announce they are yet again our title sponsor for this upcoming season.
We present to you our car for the 2016 Formula Sim-Racing season, with a huge amount of gratitude to Ernesto De Angelis for his superb design, but we also announce our new driver line up, with Francesco Bigazzi joining Twister-Racing, and Daniel Kiss getting his first full year in FSR’s premier category. In ACE, Giorda will yet again represent the team, and newcomer Christian Befumo partners him.
We have caught up with both World Championship drivers, as well as team-owner David Greco, and let’s hope for more of the same this year!
After a long summer break, we’re back in action for Round 9 of the FSR season, which takes place around the historic Autodromo Natzionale di Monza. The unique, high speed circuit could see top speeds edging to around 350km/h. The bumpy nature of the circuit unsettles the car, combined with the need for low downforce to maximise the long straights poses questions for both driver and setup.
Muhammed Patel (Twister 2F4Y) discusses this weekend: “This may well prove to be a difficult weekend for me as preparation hasn’t gone smoothly. I haven’t really felt at one with the car throughout practicing, struggling especially with Ascari and corner exits in general. Qualifying will be critical to not get stuck in a DRS train, and a podium wouldn’t be a bad result to continue my good run of form.”

The mid-season break awaits the team following Round 8 of the FSR season, which takes place at Silverstone. The 5.891km circuit posed challenges to the drivers in the lead up to the weekend, with the Maggots and Becketts section requiring fast direction change and a good aero balance, while the car is prone to under steering into many slow speed corners such as Luffield. The combination poses an exciting challenge for both driver and setup.
A familiar face of Carlos Hernandez had this to say on his return to a race seat: “Racing again after such a long time always feels good, but when you're given the opportunity of racing for the same great team as Twister Racing, then it's just perfect. I am driving from Silverstone onwards, and as this is the very first race for me, it couldn't be any better. I have always loved this circuit, even after the change of layout. Long straights, super high-speed turns, esses, slow and tricky sections...It's just awesome driving through every single famous corner over here.
So far, testing sessions have been quite successful. I felt quite comfortable in the car since the first minute, and that's a great way to start driving again. The fact of being part of Twister Racing also means you are surrounded by people who work hard to make the team better, so it is always a good motivation to make improvements.
For this race in particular I'm feeling confident, and even when a Top 5 finishing position seems realistic, I would like to fight for the podium. Who knows how the race develops through the laps, so I'll be ready for whatever happens to take the chance and performing well. After this race I'm just determined to improve my pace and keeping myself consistent. If I can do that I'm sure, with the help of this team, fantastic results will come.”

Hockenheim is the venue for Round 7 of the FSR season. It sees us make some slight tinkering with the driver line-up. In light of Daniel’s scintillating start to the season, which included helping the team secure 1-2-3-4 at Austria, the Hungarian has been promoted to Twister-Racing’s WC seat, replacing team owner David Greco.
Daniel discusses his promotion to the WC team: “I’m glad and thankful to David Greco for giving me the opportunity to race in WC. The rest of the season will be a good challenge and opportunity for me, because I can race against the very best of FSR. I don’t want to put pressure on myself, so I would like to enjoy it and score as many points as possible because I feel that I have the pace to be in top 5 regularly. I need to get back my Q2 pace which I had at the beginning of the season, because I’ve been failing in Q2 in the previous races. I will try to attend the next 2 races in ACE as well, however most likely I won’t be able to race this Saturday.”

It’s the first of the four changes to this year’s FSR calendar, as our drivers head to Austria to tackle the newly renamed Red Bull Ring for the sixth round of the series. Petar’s second consecutive victory helps extend the teams lead in both drivers and constructors standings. Rens Klop stopped teammate Daniel Kiss’ stranglehold on ACE, securing his first win of the season to increase the ever widening gap in the constructors’ standings, while in PRO Giorda secured the team’s first top 5 of the season.
With the Austrian circuit only featuring 9 turns, the grid should be tightly packed. The slow exits followed by long straights require good traction, as well as high top speed, while the third sector requires the aerodynamic performance. These factors combined with the bumpy surface should see some slight differences between drivers.
Jim Parisis had this to say about the upcoming race weekend: “The season has been going well so far, with some unfortunate moments and situations but it's a long way to go yet. Austria is a nice little track; I remember this one from the F1 Challenge area. I expect everyone to be really close here, so expect the unexpected.”

Round 5 of the Formula Sim-Racing series takes place at Montreal, where the drivers will have to tackle the challenging Gilles Villeneuve Circuit. In 2014, the team struggled to set the car up around Montreal. A year on, and the demands of the car around Canada are still the same. The combination of attaining a high top speed, braking stability, traction, and turn in are hard to master, and the anti-cuts around Turns 8, 9, and the final corner lead to high error prone zones.
This weekend, Giordano Valeriano joins us on the back of a successful drive through the field at Bahrain. The Italian had this to say: “I had a difficult start to the season with two retirements. At Melbourne I put an illegal tyre compound, and at China I had a disconnection after 10 laps while fighting for the podium. For the Malaysian and Bahrain races, I had to start from the back of the grid, although I managed to finish in 6th and 5th position. I am free of penalties for this Canadian GP, so I have everything needed to finish in the Top 3 here. I'm going to be careful not to commit any mistakes, as I clearly have the platform for a perfect remainder of the season. Being part of a team such as Twister-Racing is a real big advantage, so I need to make the most out of it.”

Another successful race weekend for the team, with Petar Brljak dominating from start to finish in WC, with Jim recovering from a poor qualifying to get 2nd. A drive through penalty for Patel ended hopes of a second Twister podium sweep as the Brit had to settle for 4th. Team boss Greco recovered from a back of the grid penalty to take 8th, making a 2 stopper work.
Earlier in the weekend, Daniel Kiss also showed us a masterclass, dominating the race to continue his 100% win ratio for the season. Unfortunately, teammate Rens fell victim to two incidents, which saw the Dutchman have yet another unlucky weekend. In PRO, Giorda overcame a back of the grid penalty to finish in 6th, with an incident mid way through the race ending any slight chances of a top 5.
Round 5 of the season takes place in 2 weeks, at Montreal. Thanks again to our sponsor, Thrustmaster!
After a three week break, the venue for Round 4 of the FSR season is the 5.412 Km Bahrain International Circuit, which provides a mix of slow, medium and fast corners. The bumps on entry to numerous turns can offset the cars balance, especially into turn 10, where it is so easy to sn**ch an inside tire. Traction is also critical on the exits of several corners, so drivers will have to protect their rear tires.
The team looks to take its second full podium sweep in WC, where Petar leads the drivers’ standings by a point to sister teammate Jim, and Twister 2FAST4YOU has a 16 point buffer to Twister-Racing. Meanwhile, in ACE Daniel is looking to continue his winning streak, and the team to secure their third one-two of the season. In PRO, yet again we face an uphill challenge with both drivers having a back of the grid penalty.
Join Rens Klop, who discusses the weekend: “The season so far has been pretty decent, but I've had less time than last year to practice, a few small errors combined with some misfortune have probably cost me a chance at a victory. Bahrain is a bit tricky, the combination of turn 9 and 10 is very easy to lock up, and this can ruin your whole stint. I hope to have a clear race this time around; hopefully I can be close to Daniel, which should see be being on the podium, with a possibility to win.”

Round 3 of the Formula Sim-Racing series takes place in Shanghai, for the Chinese GP. After a full podium swoop in World Championship and another ACE victory, the team hopes to march on and extend the lead in both WC and ACE championships, as well as kick start our season in PRO. China demands other aspects from the car, unlike Sepang, it is relatively flat, however the long turns strain the front tires. Also, having good traction is critical, especially before the one kilometer back straight before the hairpin, which is the prime passing zone.
Championship leader, Petar Brljak joins us in our weekend preview: “The season so far has been decent, although a mistake in Q2 at Melbourne, compounded by a poor car, and contact with Morand cost me chances at victory in both the opening races. Nonetheless, the two podiums are welcome, and that’s what I hope to achieve in every race this year. The track is a bit difficult because it's mix of compromises with a few important traction zones but then having enough front-end for the high speed sections, which destroy the front tires. The wing level is also a bit tricky to get right. As for the result, I’m hoping to fight for the win again!”

Malaysia provided the perfect opportunity to build on a positive season opener at Melbourne. The track posed issues to set up the car, to balance the traction needs out of the slower turns, the bumps, and also the aero section in Sector 2. Nonetheless, the results showed that the team yet again developed a great setup.
In ACE, Daniel and Rens locked out the front row, the duo started to pull away from the field. They squabbled on track and the positions changed on multiple occasions. However, an off track excursion in the middle of the race for Rens helped secure a provisional race victory for Kiss, and Klop fought gallantly to recover to third.
Rens discusses his eventful race: “My race was more than a disaster; i was pleasantly surprised to be second on the grid. The race start was good, my goal was just follow Daniel and see what happens. On lap 3 he made a mistake in Sector 3 and I passed him for the lead, but he undercut me in the first pit-stop and we had a little battle. In the second stint, I spun in sector 2 which cost me 2nd or maybe a win. After that I had a little different strategy and had a great fight with Partington and Gobbi. Still happy with a podium place but I could have won.”
Next up was PRO, where Italian Giordano had a back of the grid penalty from the previous event, while Wim lined up 5th. After a promising start of the race, Wim unfortunately put on the Soft compound at his pit-stop, and to prevent a post-race penalty, the Dutchman stopped the car. Meanwhile, Giordano, along with on track battles used his two stop strategy to finish in 7th.
Valeriano joined us post-race to give his thoughts: “Sadly, due to a back of the grid penalty, I couldn't really challenge for the win, but my pace was enough for that. In the first lap I already gained 8 positions, and if it wasn't for the many on track battles that I had, especially with Michele D'Alessandro, I could have aimed for a top 5 position at the end of the race. I hope I can have a normal race next time starting from qualifying and challenge for the win!”
Onto WC, where Twister-Racing locked out the front three positions, with Petar leading Jim and Patel, and the trio were separated by less than a tenth. Greco, however was suffering the consequences of a penalty from Melbourne, and had to start from the back of the grid. The front three managed to pull out a gap to the field, with Petar and Jim extending the gap to Patel, to make it a two horse race. In the penultimate stint Parisis passed his Croatian team-mate, who was nursing a damaged car to take his first victory of the season, with the 2FAST4YOU duo of Petar and Patel completing the podium. After a mistake in the second stint leading to an unscheduled pit-stop, Greco recovered to finish 9th after a last lap squabble with Saxen.
You can read the comments of the race winner, Jim Parisis here: “Qualifying was very good for our team and I was in a good position to fight for the win. So I kept a clear head, drove almost the whole race behind Petar, trying to close the gap on him and make the opportunity for a pass. Pit-stops were similar with Petar so it had to happen on track. I tried 2-3 times on the outside of T1, always being very careful not make any contact with him and at the end of the penultimate stint, I had a good exit of last corner which helped me make an easy pass. That was my first win in FSR, on a track that I really like. I enjoyed working with the team, and especially with George for this race and I'm sure we will keep it up.”
We're also joined by team owner, David Greco: “As a team owner, I am never satisfied, even after a race that saw 3 of our 4 cars in the podium. It’s possibly one of the best race weekends for Twister Racing, definitely the best since I am the team owner. I am very happy with the work the team is putting in, and it clearly reflected the performance the team has shown on track in the last race. I believe that now we can only improve, and we are looking forward to the next race, knowing that the opposition is going to be even stronger and that we need to work even harder to have a positive weekend again. I'd like to thank everyone in the team, and our main sponsor, Thrustmaster, for their fantastic support, on track with their hardware, and off track, helping us in improving our team and our own image as well.”

Round 2 of the Formula Sim-Racing season is at Sepang, for the Malaysian Grand Prix. The team will try to build on the solid start to the season, which saw us in the ACE division take a one-two, and also lead the constructors championship in World Championship with the sister, Twister 2FAST4YOU team taking third and fourth.
Although Malaysia represents a total different challenge than the season opener, with a much bumpier and also aero dependent circuit with two long straights, we hope to continue our run of good results.

Also, the Hungarian had this to say: “I couldn't have asked for a better start for the season. “I had an easy win in ACE, although I have to admit that Q was a lot closer than I expected. Melbourne is probably my strongest track and during testing, I was sure that I could have the pace even for WC, therefore I'm really glad that David and Xavier (thank you guys again) granted me the opportunity to race and make my debut in WC. I feel sorry for Jim, because it could have been an interesting battle. After his DC, I was able to pull a gap on Kuba and the crucial part of the race was when I put the mediums on and was still able to manage the gap to him while he was on the super softs. I knew that I would be able to overtake him in the last stint because of my slightly lower wings and the pace difference between the SS and M, so I went for it and luckily I got through on my 2nd attempt. After that it was just cruising around and bringing the car home safely. As for Malaysia, it’s generally been a tricky circuit for me, and the car balance hasn’t been great but I think Q will be easier this time around with a few post-race penalties, and yet again I’m gunning for the win!”

A mix bag of results in World Championship, it all looked promising for Jim after taking pole and leading after the first stint before a game freeze took him out of contention. Nonetheless, after a lackluster qualifying by Petar, Patel and Greco, they recovered to finish in 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively. The result leaves 2FAST4YOU top of the constructors championship!

Daniel Kiss was the winner of the ACE Australian GP! He was followed by his teammate in Twister Racing, Rens Klop, Michi Hoyer completed the podium for Avid Chronic Racing.
The Twister Racing driver showed blistering pace as he led for 41 of 47 laps.
He handed the lead to 2 stopping German Avid Chronic driver Michi Hoyer breifly during his first stop. He shared the podium with another Twister driver in Rens Klop.
The start initially looked very clean as the whole grid passed by turn one (often the scene of tears and carbon pieces) and in fact sectors 1 and 2 intact. However a bit of tense action that began at the exit of the high speed chicane of Turns 10-11 and continued with possibly a desperate move into Turn 12 became a road block of a wreck. Drivers with wingless cars tried to carry on and amplified the size of the crash.
Up the front however we had 18 runners still racing and to be objective this was where the winners would come from.
The longer race format brought strategy into play as the top 4 drivers had a mix of 2 stop and 3 stop strategies with winner Kiss and second placed Dutchman Rens Klop P2 choosing to 3 stop whereas Michi Hoyer and Pashalis Gergis went for a 2 stop.
In his final stint, three stopper Klop had to chase down two stopping Hoyer who assumed second place after Klop pitted. He did a pretty good job of it and he pounced and created a Medium to Medium tyre fight but with his tyres quite a lot fresher and his aero a little lower..
In a thrilling finish, to retain fourth place and somewhat in a repeat of the Klop– Hoyer fight, Two stopping Gergis had to hold off a hard charging Finnish driver in Mikko Soukas on a 3 stop in the final laps. Faster Than Speed driver, Mikko Suokas had pitted from about 8 seconds in front of the Greek driver Gergis. Suokas rejoined around 8 seconds behind and closed him down. The difference was perhaps that Soukas caught him a little later in his final stint and the fresh tyre advantage was somewhat negated by how hard Gergis made him push to close the gap. Gergis put up a strong defence on tired rubber and on the finish line the Finnish driver was 5 hundreds behind.

Melbourne kicks off the 2015 Formula SimRacing season, and yet again Twister-Racing will be participating in all three divisions. Firstly on Saturday evening you will be able to follow Daniel and Rens quest for victory. 14.00GMT on Sunday will see Wim’s Twister debut alongside Giorda in PRO, prior to the main event at 17.00GMT which will see Twister-Racing and sister team 2FAST4YOU go for victory in the World Championship.
Here is Muhammed Patel on his feelings for the season opener: “Pre-season preparation has gone smoothly, we’ve hopefully maintained our advantage with the setup for this season, although the easier mod should bunch up the field. It was a challenge to balance the raw speed of the car with the tire life, and I’ve been struggling slightly with the final sector at Melbourne, hopefully I can overcome that before race day. I’d mainly like to get some points for the first race, if everything goes perfect then a top 5 finish would be a great way to start the season!”

Twister-Racing had a largely successful season in 2014, which resulted in three World Championship victories and the drivers’ championship in PRO as well as the constructors’ championship in both of Formula Sim-Racing’s feeder series. We hope to move another step forward this season, and are aiming to do so alongside title sponsor – Thrustmaster, who provide top of the range products including Gamepads, Gaming Headsets, Joypads, Racing wheels and other accessories to help your virtual experience. Their latest products, the T300RS (compatible on PS3, PS4 & PC) and TX (compatible on Xbox One, PC) racing wheels have super smooth, seamless FFB that is ultra-responsive. The H.E.A.R.T technology makes it highly precise and being ecosystem ready it enables the use of all detachable racing wheels that are currently available.
In Formula Sim-Racing’s premiere category, in the World Championship series, new team manager David Greco will lead the line up alongside Jim Parisis, the Greek eagerly awaits his second season in Twister-Racing.
Jim Parisis on his thoughts about the upcoming season: “Working with Twister for a second season in a row is a dream come true for me. The team has done a perfect job in the pre-season, creating the ideal environment on and off track. I feel I have done my homework and I'm waiting for the opening race in Australia. My focus this season is to eliminate the mistakes that cost me many points last season.”
For his fourth season with Twister-Racing, Croatian Petar Brljak will drive for the sister team; Twister 2FAST4YOU alongside Muhammed Patel, who enters his first full time World Championship season.
In ACE, last year’s PRO champion Rens Klop and Hungarian Daniel Kiss will both be gunning to win drivers and constructors championship this season.
Daniel Kiss eagerly anticipates the season opener at Melbourne: “I have higher expectations for myself than last year. I wasn't really pleased with my pace in the 1st half of the season, but after the summer break, I made some changes in my driving style and wheel settings which worked well, I got closer to the guys who were fighting for the title. I have again made a small change in my settings which seems to work nicely. I'm clearly aiming for the title this year, and I believe that Rens and myself will make a strong team, therefore I would like to win both the Driver's and Constructors' Championship. I'm confident that I will be fighting for wins from the 1st race of the season, although we still don't really know the grid in ACE. I can't wait to get this season started.”
The PRO line-up will be led by the returning Italian, Giordano Valeriano, as well as newcomer and older brother of Rens, Wim Klop, the Dutchman had this to say about his debut season in FSR: “I replace Rens Klop in the PRO series with Twister-Racing. This will be my first full season in FSR and I am looking forward to it. I think it is going to be fun. Hopefully I am going to be competitive as well. So far I have no idea how hard the competition is this year but I hope to be a regular top 10 finisher and maybe get some podiums. It will take me some time to get comfortable with the FSR mod and this is my biggest challenge at the moment. I am looking forward to some good racing.”
New team owner, David Greco had this to say about the upcoming season: “Finally the start of the season is just around the corner. I cannot say how happy and excited I am to start my first full season in FSR as a Team Owner. I believe this year will be a great season for us. We had a very positive pre-season testing, and I am pleased with the performance of all my drivers. I am also very glad that Thrustmaster chose to be our technical partner, providing us their best hardware for SimRacing which surely will help make every single driver in the team very competitive and ensure that everyone has the best possible hardware, a crucial factor in order to be at the top in a World Class league like the Formula-Simracing.net World Championship. I want to thank Thrustmaster for their support, the members of the team for their great work during the pre-season and wish all the best to every driver, team and staff for this year's season.”
Interesting info about FSR's 15th season!
It's incredible to think about it but Formula Sim Racing has its Fifteenth birthday this year.
It started in 2001 with Grand Prix 3 simulation by Geoff Crammond. It's first race was at Albert Park GP circuit in Melbourne. Later that year Artur Mlodzinski made history by being crowned the first FSR World Drivers Champion.
In 2002 the scene was set as the the International SimRacing Club by then itself in its third year took the decision to move platforms from Grand Prix 3 to 'F1 2001' from Electronic Arts. Later in the same year the championship migrated to 'F1 2002'. The club has ever since sought the most realistic and accurate simulation to run the championship.
2002 was also the year that saw the arrival of one of sim racings greatest legends Gregor Huttu. However it took Gregor 6 months to become competitive and it was 2003 when he came out of the blocks sprinting with 5 straight wins in the opening races. However the standard in FSR is always extremely high and Gregor was out-qualified for race 6 at Monaco by Joshua Lyon. Huttu crashed out on lap 23 and retired from FSR. Lyon took the title in what was his second season.
2006 saw the move from the EA titles to ISI Rfactor using Jason Tedstone's 'F1Champions' Modification.
In the ensuing years the constant has been extremely high levels of driving and competition. If you are FSR World Champion you are one of the best if not the best sim-racer on the planet.
2014 The biggest news was that the International SimRacing Club decided that Rfactor 2 was ready for the pinnacle of sim-racing so FSR moved to Rfactor 2.
The change of platform mixed it up a bit and the great (then) four time Champion Bono Huis didn't get it all his own way in 2014 and it seemed with 2 races to go that the French racer Morgan Morand had the title sewn up. However in a dramatic final round Huis took his fifth title.
Now its 2015 and two winter series have been been held on the further updated platform. One unofficial in the brilliant ASR Open Wheeler Classic mod and the second the Official FSR Winter series in the ISI stock Formula Renault 3.5 2014. Wet weather testing is scheduled for later this month. Meanwhile the the Formula ISI has been tested and further tweaked after the experience of 2014 to further enhance its suitability.
Morgan Morand the French racer will return to see if he can wrest the Drivers Champion trophy that he so very nearly won in 2014. Reigning champion Bono Huis is taking a break after 5 straight titles. Several drivers will be stepping up to Championship from Ace and we expect to see several drivers racing for wins. Likewise some talented Pro drivers will step up as their results now require it under the rules or because their talent and ambition dictate it. There will be a lot of new faces in Pro fighting for results and recognition from top teams.
The scene is set for the most exciting and unpredictable FSR season yet.
The FSR League in essence consists of three levels.
Pro- “The entry point”. 60% of GP distance. Auto Clutch,Traction control and ABS both on low.
Ace-”The step up”. 80% Race distance. Auto Clutch Only
World Championship. 100% race distance. No assists.
You can sign up for Pro if you want! All you need is the Rfactor 2 simulation and the desire. So if you are curious how you might fare against the best in the world, or even think you might be the best, then the chance is here.
