Today was grade 9 "Take Our Kids to Work” day. William and Ashley joined us to get a little taste of life at Pretium. We are all very excited to see them grow from their first “window condition assessment” when they were 9 months old to visiting a site today.

William and Ashley had this to say:

“We had a great time out on site in North York learning about waterproofing and what it's like being on a job site. Back at the office we learned about marketing and organizing supplies for a tradeshow.”

From the heavy rainfalls in Toronto this summer, it is evident that upgrades need to be made to the stormwater discharge system, to avoid disruption to infrastructure and services. In her insightful article "Strategies for Urban Flood Mitigation", Ariel Zhu briefly explores the feasibility and capacity of blue roof systems to act as one such upgrade.

The Pretium team was out in force at the IIBEC/OBEC BES over the last two days. With both Jean-Guy Levaque and Sean Moore presenting, we had the opportunity to share our knowledge and pick some up in exchange!

Pretium's Director of Marketing and IIBEC's Second Vice President Jennifer Hogan said "Events like these are so energizing. September 30 was the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

“Reconciliation” is about establishing and maintaining a mutually respectful relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in this country. Reconciliation is also about recognition of the first nations traditional and unceded territories that we live, work and play on.

Why do we wear orange on this day? Orange Shirt Day references a real orange shirt taken from residential school survivor Phyllis Webstad. “The colour orange has always reminded me of how my feelings didn’t matter, how no one cared”.

As we reflect on our participation yesterday, we encourage everyone to continue to honour those who have lost their freedom, language, and worth, and raises awareness about the damage done by the residential schools.

We couldn't have asked for better weather for our annual golf tournament! It's a great opportunity for everyone in our company to connect and enjoy the sunshine.
