The Legend was elegant. She was fast. She was a hard worker. She was resilient. She was a nation builder. She was Anguillian.
Sounds like she was built at Rebel Marine. No, better yet, Rebel Marine is built on her.
Thank you for joining in and remembering her with us Rebels at Rebel Marine Anguilla.
Before she left us, if she could have spoken to the world on that ‘windswept’ Sandy Ground Beach in 1984, the Warspite probably would have encouraged us to:

To close out Warspite Month, two powerful quotes will shared.
The Warspite was built in 1916 by a twenty-two year old Anguillian, Arthur Carty. It was lost in 1984. Rev. C.L Carty, his son, penned these words about that day.
The next generation, Lenny and David, not only picked up the pieces of her wreck but help carry on the family tradition of building boats at Rebel Marine & Anguilla Techni Sales.
Custom. Premium. Quality. Like the Warspite.

This is the stuff legends are made of.
True or fable?

Locally, our remembrance of the Legend is sometimes unconscious. Take a slow stroll on Sandy Ground beach and you’ll see a younger generation paying tribute to the Warspite. They are intentional in building their premium racing boats from SCRATCH, just like Rebel Marine, and racing them from one end of Road Bay to the other, just as the Warspite did from the Dominican Republic to Anguilla! But most are unconscious that with the beauty, skill and action of their boating, they are keeping her memory alive.

Locally, we intentionally and consciously preserve the memory of the Legend as well! Whether we knew her or not, we love her!

The Warspite is not just remembered at home. Her positive contribution and service in its 68 years in the region's trade industry is remembered on the ECS10. Via this means, the Legend continues to roam the islands....

At Rebel, we enjoy showcasing Ernest Connor's Warspite models in our gift shop. They are Custom. Premium. Quality. The same elements we hold dear. AND they are built with Love from SCRATCH! Just like the boats we build. Let us build you one!

It's Wednesday here at Rebel Marine and time to take a WILD guess at 3 questions and Live Life Like a Rebel!
Who is the lover of boat building and the Warspite so much so that he went over and beyond to preserve the Legend in such grand style and beauty by building replicas of her from SCRATCH?
Let him build one for you!

13/11/2023

Seeing the Warspite up close nowadays is ‘almost’ possible. Four exact Warspite model replicas (in different settings), have been built with love by hand, from SCRATCH. This week Rebel will feature them, along with their Anguillian owner & builder.
The real boat itself was a beauty and so are the replicas but they present another Enigma… how did the builder accomplish such! I guess, it’s in his blood.

Hurricane Klaus damage: “In Anguilla, three ships (including the Warspite) were wrecked. One mile off Saint Martin, the rough seas wrecked a cruise ship. The 60 passengers and 23 crew members swam safely to shore, though one person was hospitalized.”

North Hill and Blowing Point were the villages that the owner/builder and first captain of the Warspite came from! Today, several of their descendants continue building Custom boats at Rebel Marine.
Klaus, came from the Western Caribbean Sea, about one year ago yesterday.

The Warspite.
It’s Testy Tuesday on the Legend.
Share your answers for ALL three questions in the bundle below?
Correct answers will be posted on Friday, (Important note: An ENIGMA is not awarded to persons who are correct), God’s willing.
