Spot the odd one out...

28 mugs!! This is my biggest batch of mugs (or any one product) yet. I can't believe how much my mug throwing has improved this year.

Did you spot the odd mug? I'm trialling some wider topped mugs as I love the way they look, its all thanks to my dad as he asked for a mug this shape and it took many, many attempts to get the shape just right. Now to make some more.

If you visit this month as part of you'll see these mugs get glazed, fired and as finished pots available to buy!

Studio Scenes 🧽🍢✨️

A few recent snaps of studio life. I've been making, making, making ahead of and of course, mine and .studio pop up shop. Autumn is going to be BUSY!

I have so many ideas at the moment that I can't seem to find enough time or maybe brain space to get them all done - any tips or advice welcome 😊

Mugs! ✨️

These are really popular at the moment and I am loving making them. I don't use any size guages I just go with the clay. Maybe one day I'll be a bit more precise but I like being more free with mugs still.

A lot of these ones have already sold, so check out my website if you're keen to get your hands on one.

Free collection in Paignton (and Totnes if you message me!), just select the collect option at checkout πŸ™ŒπŸ»

This summer is all about making. I'm trying to get ahead of autumn and winter by making as much as I can, whilst the days are long and warm.

I'm currently making lots of pots for a massive bisque fire at the start of next month, which then allows me to glaze and glaze fire pots throughout September when are in full swing. This means that I'll have new pots across the month to share with you all. And hopefully chat to some lovely studio visitors whilst I'm glazing in the studio!

Let me know if you're hoping to visit the studio in September ✨️

Today was my first ever full day at the studio, with no end time (as in, no kids to pick up πŸ˜‚). Let me talk you through it...

Arrive at 9.30am, wedge up reclaim and prep clay for throwing which takes 20 mins. Then I get the wheel set up before a 10am call about something exciting... 🀫

At 10.20 I jump on the wheel and start throwing. I start out by making something new - can you tell what it is from the photos?

At 2pm I stop for food, I've been in the flow of throwing, popping pots outside to dry, then trimming them, but now I'm ready for a break! I only bought an apple and some ricecakes to the studio so I demolish them and get back on the wheel.

At 3pm I've run out of podcasts so I pop the radio on whilst I throw and trim the last few pots. At 4pm I add handles to six mugs and tidy up/stamp todays and last weeks pots.

By 5pm I'm ready to go home so I finish my last few jobs and pack everything away. I start cleaning by 5.30pm and lock the studio before 6pm.

What a day! By the time I leave the studio I'm knackered and starving but buzzing off a full day of potting πŸ’›

Egg cups are back on Etsy. They're still an Etsy Pick which is really exciting.

I love this glaze, speaking of which I really need to find some names for my bluey/greeny glazes, so if you have any suggestions, leave them in the comments please!

Hold the dots and drag for a speedy look at lots of pots!

Most of these have found their way onto my Etsy and website today so if there's anything you like, go check them out. If you like a couple of things that are on the different sites and you want to avoid double postage/checkout, DM me on Insta and I'll sort it out.

A few of the things here are end of line glazes/styles so grab them whilst you can...!

Splatter re-stock!

My splatter spoon rests are always one of my most popular items. They sell out before I can make more so this time I made 12! They will be split across wholesale, Etsy and my website so hopefully whichever way you want to shop, you can find one.

Now I just need to update my product photography to reflect the current size and style. These images are an accurate reflection of the spoon rests.

After several very busy weekends it has been lovely to get back to a slower weekend full of pottery and sunshine. I've even tidied my pottery area at home.

Now to grab a cider and my book and get immediately interupted by the kids!

Happy sunny Sunday β˜€οΈ

This picture got a lot of love on my stories last night so I figured it deserved a place on my grid. Let me know if you also love some splatterwear with a πŸ’™ in the comments.

I won't let slip yet BUT .studio and I got some very exciting news yesterday. It means a lot of extra work and loads of planning but if we pull it off, it'll be incredible. Watch this space to find out more...

Got a website update soon (a couple of these are already online!) featuring a range of burners, all different size, glazes and designs. Something to suit everyone.

I'd love to know which of these glazes is your fave, let me know below!

Photos from Wren Pottery's post 09/05/2024

Some end of day throwing today, a few vases and spoon rests, along with some burner tops out of shot.

The first vase is dumpier than the next two which were accidentally a very similar shape and size.

But the best thing I've achieved in throwing on the wheel this month?..... Staying clean. My last two throwing sessions have ended with spotless jeans. Does this mean I'm a grown up potter now?!
