This is something hard to gain but easy to loose.

Perseverance with your riding and lessons is so important as having that support and reassurance is what will help get you through.

It’s so easy to give up or listen to other opinions.

We provide blocks of 5 lessons so that you can have consistency and we work on areas you are wanting to focus on and get you back on track.

We now have availability on Saturdays and Sunday afternoons. Please contact us to discuss a regular slot.

21/09/2023

Evening everyone. Just some updated information, from today: 48hrs notice for cancellations, and prepayment is required to secure your bookings. Blocks of 5 must be paid for together to take advantage of the discount, rosette and certificate.

Weekends are filling fast. New clients welcome but slots are limiting so don’t miss out over the coming months.

Remember we specialise in teaching children from 3yrs +. Clients we have taught have gone on to qualifiers for Olympia, won at local grass roots shows and have had success in the dressage arena.

Confidence crisis - we can help you get that partnership back. Would you like support at at competition and on site coaching? We do that too.

We also specialise in working with first time horses owners.

Kinect Horse wish the four finalists this year the best of luck.

Good Luck to everyone.

From 7pm this evening, we will start to announce our 2023 finalists. It was a delight to select them and we are very much looking forward to their reveal!

🐎 What makes a great Coach? 🐎

Kinect Horse pride themselves in building a rapport with not just the rider but their family member.

Why?

It builds trust, enabling difficult situations to be dealt with effectively and confidently.

Family members of children open up and feel supported. From this we are able to learn if there is illness/learning difficulties or mental health issue.

This is key to ensuring a good structure and lesson and for the rider to not feel criticised or discouraged.

17/04/2023

🌱 Sycamore Poisoning🌱

Good morning everyone, we wanted to make you aware to be vigilant for sycamore seedlings. We have seen it everywhere we have been in the last week.

If you find any seedlings please keep your horses/ponies/donkeys in until you can get your fields treated.

Atypical Myopathy (sycamore poisoning) happens when horses ingest the seeds or seedlings whilst eating. The toxin contained in the seed/seedlings damages the striated muscle cells.

Please check your paddocks and arenas.

This can be FATAL as quick as a couple of days. The RCVS website lists the symptoms to be aware of.

A few are; depression, colic symptoms but not off their feed, recumbency.

If you are at all concerned about your horse call your vet immediately.

Naugle KE, Hackett J, Aqeel D, Naugle KM. Effect of different Kinesio tape tensions on experimentally-induced thermal and muscle pain in healthy adults. PLoS One. 2021 Nov 5;16(11):e0259433. doi: 10.1371/journal.pone.0259433. PMID: 34739522; PMCID: PMC8570489.

This is a very interesting read on Kinesio tape having more effect when applied at 25% tension.

Kinect Horse offer Kinesio taping (KT) as a rehab and training option. We are fully qualified to use KT.

Part 2 Should We Ride on Snow?

Did you get it? …….. the answer is a snowball formed from a shod horse.

Snow compacts into the foot as the horse walks along. With shoes the snowballs become deeper than that of barefoot horses.

A horse carries 60% of its body weight on the front limbs. In the photos you will see how the formed snowball has significantly altered the horses limb and foot placement ( their hoof pattern axis) in a static position. This places undue stress and pressure on the limb musculoskeletal structures.

Snowballs can also have a negative impact on the placement of the feet upon impact with the ground during movement. This may cause unnecessary injuries.

In the UK we have minimal snow so preparation for riding is discussed widely as being petroleum jelly on the foot and shoe to minimise the build up of snow. Snow Pads could be an option for areas more prone to regular snow fall.

When turning out horses in the snow Kinect Horse staff use petroleum jelly as a precautionary measure if they are required to turn out even on minimal snow fall.

Our advice would be to speak to you farrier if you are wanting to ride in the snow the next time it is forecast.

Part 1 Should We Ride on Snow?

Riding with snow on the ground seems fun and a different experience. With there still some around, we wanted to share this with you.

Look at this first photo ….. have you any idea what it may be on the ground?

Stable Management is incorporated into our lesson schedule with our youngest clients.

Why do we do this?

1) Encourage responsibility having a pony.

2) Education, education …. Understanding why and how.

3) Achieving and being proud of their progress.

4) Getting in a routine but able to have fun doing stable chores.

5) Parents need a day off once in a while and just supervise.
