Just because something is common doesn't make it normal.
Not getting enough sleep
Too much caffeine
Weight gain as we get older
The list can go on & on....
Nothing changes if nothing changes.
Change is hard.
I have found as we get older our mindset is a bit leery of change. Yet change may be the EXACT things we need!
In regards to our health, so much doesn’t work anymore in this stage of life so change is imperative if we want to see positive differences.
What are we waiting for?
Yes change is hard. Being patient is also hard! We don’t see results as quickly as we used to.
Maybe you’re tired of seeing SO MUCH out there about what’s working for others and out of pure FATIGUE of seeing so much you just put blinders on to those things?
There is just so much information out there. We must be the expert in OURSELVES to figure out what works.
Some times we just need some guidance with someone to talk with & talk through ideas & suggestions. Helping to ‘troubleshoot’ to start seeing some traction gained.
That’s what I do! I coach women through all different aspects of their health journey.
There is NO magic pill.
Just having a mind that is open to trying new things & learning more about what your body needs now.

“Change is inevitable. Growth is optional” - John Maxwell
Living in Florida for the past 27 years and we have seen quite a few of these things. Some we just joke about being "rain with a name". This is no joke though.
Prayers for all of us in this path.
Nothing grows in a comfort zone.
Get up.
Get out.
Get moving.
Crazy VS Inspiring.
I’ll take INSPIRING - thanks!
I’m not doing something that is impossible.
I am taking my day - reverse engineering it (the night before) and figuring out how much time I have to fit in a workout. Each day (except Sunday).
I choose to do my listening to a book or podcast while I’m walking or cleaning chicken coops (all getting those important steps & movement in “N.E.A.T”.)
I do the same with my food and as long as no one else takes it or eats it I’m usually good to go!
Making enough for leftovers & extra veggies along the way.
How are you ensuring your movement & nutrition stays on point?
Been working out in this space for 18 years. It looks a bit different than when I started but hey - so do I!
I have 3 grown kids now.
I have lost baby weight here.
I have gained confidence here.
I have helped my kids (family) to see that working out & being can be a part of everyday life.
I have shown them and myself that I am important and being healthy is & should always be a priority.
One of the things I love doing is helping women see they can do the same thing - their way - in their home.
It doesn’t have to be hard to get started. Eating healthy & getting stronger doesn’t need to be difficult.
What's your favorite type of workout?
Energy bites.
That's what my friend calls the rumble strips on the side of the road. Lol. When starting to veer off the road the tires on these will rumble & (hopefully) alert the driver they are drifting (or falling asleep).
It got me thinking during my walk today. Whether you work from home or outside the home - taking some time to get up and get moving is an energy bite. It’s been said “sitting is the new smoking" and our brains can always use that change of scenery while our body needs the movement.
Take a walk around the building or office space.
Maybe there is a room you can do a workout in during your lunch break.
No matter what, getting some different movement in to break up the day will give you a good dose of energy to get you through instead of reaching for a sugary drink or snack.
Give it a try! Add in a few "energy bites" to your work day.
Speaking with someone lately about protein importance and we got to talking about more plant based options.
I think many get blinders on when it comes to plant based proteins & don't realize how many options there are.
I also think it's important to incorporate these even if you are eating an omnivore diet. 😉
Hope this article helps some!
What is a plant based protein you enjoy on a regular basis?
The 18 Best Protein Sources for Vegans and Vegetarians If you worry that vegetarian and vegan diets might lack sufficient protein, you're not alone. This article lists 18 high protein plant foods you can easily add to your diet.
Eating our fruits & veggies that are in season is quite beneficial for our health.
Seasonal veggies & fruits are picked at the peak of its growing season, so typically it will be at it's peak nutritional value!
When they have been treated with chemicals or transported long distances the nutritional benefits are reduced so shopping local for these things is an added bonus for your health.
I.e - broccoli grown in the fall has almost double the vitamin C content of broccoli grown in the spring.
We tend to get more variety when we focus on seasonal produce too which in turn gives us more vitamins & minerals we might not get if we were sticking to the same old things over & over again.
I have also found when buying what's in season it is SO much more flavorful!
What is your favorite veggie or fruit that is in season right now?
Take a minute.....
When Beginning my health journey I was asked about my “why”.
That has changed over the years. Some of my “why's” have been my husband & my kids. It took a whole for me to realize doing it for ME was a perfectly good reason.
In the last year and a half I have seen my why shift again.
More loved ones added to my family.
A bigger reason to fuel myself well to be strong inside.
To lift more weights and keep walking to be stronger to lift, squat, rock and play with these 2 amazing lil miracles.
My world changed. So did my why. I am really ok with that.
It helps keep me motivated and disciplined.
What about you? What's YOUR why?
No one is going to do it for us!
I think that is the thing that makes my heart hurt most. A woman comes to me feeling like she just doesn’t have any options & being unhealthy is just going to be the way this season of life is going to look.
Most come to me wanting to lose weight. There is so much more than that though.
Our mindset has got to change too. It takes time & patience.
Want to be healthy? Focus on healthy habits.
Want more friends? Be around a place to find & connect with others.
Want a healthy relationship? Spend time with each other and focus on the needs of that relationship.
Want a clean house? Start with one small corner/counter & take it from there. (ok this one someone CAN do it for us LOL)
What is 1 small thing you can change TODAY that will help you feel better for your health?
Remembering that life is a blessing.
Looking back on this past week at the good & not so good stuff.
Remembering life is a blessing. Every single aspect of it.
A good friend reminded me that the strength is made in the waiting moments and in the hard moments.
Through life & death. Good & bad. Happy & sad.
Blessings abound. Strength is created.
As Florida heats up - this picture reminds me - I'm cool ;) Even not sitting on an ice throne.
I am a recovering negative self-talker.
This is hard!
I have spent most of my life speaking very unkindly to myself. I still find myself leaning into that now too.
Our mind listens to what we are saying, thinking, etc
On the days it's the hardest I will actually LOOK at myself in the mirror & say something positive. OUTLOUD.
This really does help!
I am fearfully & wonderfully made. Made in the image of God. I would never think to speak to my daughter or someone I love this way - why would I speak to myself this way?
Habits like this are hard to break but they are VERY much a part of our wellness journey!
Have you caught yourself speaking poorly about YOU?
I don't have time for this. I had to MAKE time for this. My sleep score has tanked. My nutrition needs to be tweaked (again). I am meeting myself at the door. I feel spread thin. My house is a wreck. My emotions are on a roller coaster ride of mass proportions.
I make time. For food prep, workouts, getting enough water in, sleep. All the things. Intentionality needs to kick in to make it happen.
Anyone else feel like they are on a hamster wheel??
