π Updated rugby post: π
On behalf of Graham and the team,
unfortunately we have had to make the decision to postpone tomorrow's Keown Trophy and Chrysties Quaich fixtures due to the drop in temperature forecast overnight. With games being so early there is very little chance of pitches thawing and also we want the kids to fully enjoy the finals day experience.
We are proposing playing the games next Friday afternoon (1/12/23) but we will have plans set in stone by close of play Monday/Tuesday coming 28/11/23 after consideration with all cluster schools and coaches. Appreciate our schools are closed for the St Andrews day holiday on Monday coming too.
Apologies on this one and hopefully the early decision makes everyone's lives a little easier. We'll be in touch soon with a proposed solution and please share throughout our networks.
A wonderful time had by all at the RSCDS Ceilidh today in Hawick Town Hall. π
It was the last practise for P4 & P5 this afternoon before the RSCDS Ceilidh on Friday. We are very grateful to have had Jeanie and Dorothy in school teaching us the dances for the last 6 weeks. π We canβt wait for the Ceilidh on Friday! ππ΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ

Staying Safe Online
On Monday, our primary 5, 6 and 7 pupils met with Schools Officer, PC Carin Tate-Logan to discuss how best to use social media apps and sites.
Where there are lots of opportunities to help us to stay connected and to learn new skills online, there are potential dangers too. Children were encouraged not to share personal details, connect with people they didn't know, or use games and apps that were not recommended for their age.
Children had opportunities to ask questions, and PC Tate-Logan is happy to take any follow up questions. Additionally, NSPCC contains some tips to help children stay safe on social media. https://www.nspcc.org.uk/keeping-children-safe/online-safety/social-media/

P7s were thrilled to have a photo taken with Phoebe Gale today with her amazing bike (one of them!)
Phoebe also left us one of her tops she has worn for racing - PHOEBZ on the back means it will be a treasure here in Denholm for years to come!
Today we enjoyed a visit from former pupil Phoebe Gale - who is now a world renowned mountain biking champion! It was great to hear from her how she is living a championship life across the world now, having started to ride her bike as a youngster here in Denholm. We surprised her with a video of her reading when she was in P2 here - and she tells us she is still reading now!
A great ambassador for all round learning - THANKS PHOEBE!

With Halloween and the 5th of November fast approaching, this is a reminder that although fireworks are loved by many, please remember to Be Safe and Responsible. Fireworks and bonfires can be distressing for many people and animals and are extremely dangerous when used irresponsibly.
In the lead-up to the celebrations, community officers in the Scottish borders and Community Firefighters will be visiting schools to give safety advice and educational inputs to encourage everyone to be safe and responsible.
Please get in touch with Police on 101, via our online form www.scotland.police.uk/secureforms/c3/, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org if you are aware of anyone who may be using or intend on using Fireworks or pyrotechnics dangerously or illegally.
We hope you all have a safe and enjoyable fireworks weekend.
