Fig Liqueur
Campari
Italicus
Topped with Soda
Garnished with a slice of Fig
Refreshing and long, maintaining elements of a Negroni but also incorporating fruity flavours.
This cocktail was created for the STERLING Bar Menu by Amber and myself as a twist on an Americano.
Named after the censorship of art, containing provocative imagery and nudity in the 1500s, where fig leaves were used to cover it up. Works such as Michelangelo’s David, as well as portions of the Sistine Chapel were altered and affected.
Queen Victoria features on the labels of Bombay Sapphire and there is a story that she was gifted a plaster cast of Michelangelo’s David around 1857 and was equally upset by the artwork. The Victoria and Albert Museum kept a Fig Leaf plaster covering on standby to cover it up in case they were visited by them.
Available at STERLING Bar!
