The Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) has announced that repair work on the Africa Coast to Europe (ACE) undersea cable, scheduled to take place today, is expected to cause less disruption than initially anticipated.

The undersea cable link, which connects Dakar and Abidjan, is undergoing maintenance, but according to the LTA, Orange Liberia will maintain connectivity through its temporary cross-border terrestrial cable from the Ivory Coast.

This measure is set to ensure that their services remain largely unaffected during the repair period.

Similarly, MTN Lonestar has assured its customers that any disruptions will be minimal and confined to non-peak hours. The company has taken steps to mitigate the impact of the cable maintenance on its user base, aiming to provide uninterrupted service throughout the repair window.

Jarsea Burphy, LTA's Public Affairs Director, confirmed that other Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in the country have also implemented alternative redundancy links.
These measures according to Madam Burphy are designed to keep Liberia connected and ensure that the nation’s internet services remain stable during the maintenance period.

Pumah FM/TV in Bomi County is reporting that European Union US $1.5m project on PROBIO - Protecting biodiversity through law enforcement and community-led initiatives receives backlash as Journalists reject US $20 as DSA for Ten 10 days.

It can be recalled, thirty journalists from across the country working with various media Institutions were selected to attend a short-term course on FORESTRY and CONSERVATION in Tubmanburg, Bomi County.

Reports gathered so far say the media personalities rejected the US $20 and called on the Project Funder European Union to speedily address their issues.

As it stands, Journalists from River Gee, Grand Gedeh, Rivercess, Sinoe, Lofa, Montserrado amongst other counties have threatened unspecified actions if they can't pay the rightful DSA.

Simle FM in Zwedru Station manager Uriah Solo Lewis is among those aggrieved journalists who threatened unspecified actions.

WAEC POSTPONES MATHEMATICS TEST

MONROVIA, May 29 , 2024 - The Liberia National Office of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) regrets to inform the public that it has with immediate effect postponed the Mathematics test scheduled to be administered on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

A new date for the conduct of said exam will be issued in the soonest time possible.

The postponement of the exam is due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of the National Office.

The Management regrets the inconvenience this decision may cause our numerous stakeholders, especially the candidates.
